A winner of the contest with the classy filly Ramatuelle twelve months ago, Christopher Head will be hoping he can repeat the feat with his talented three-year-old Maranoa Charlie, who will be looking get back to winning ways following excellent second and third place finishes in the Prix Jean Prat and City Of York Stakes.

A breakthrough Group 1 success in Sunday's Prix de la Foret could result in retirement for the high-class son of the late Wootton Bassett, with Charlie Bond, racing manager for owners Bond Thoroughbred's, revealing they've already had significant offers to stand him as a stallion.

He said: "We're looking forward to it and I spoke to Christopher yesterday at the sales and he is very happy.

"It's really sad for the industry what happened to Wootton Bassett, who is probably one of the top three sires if not the top sire out there at the moment.

"I would say if he does win, he will be retired. We've had some big offers to stand Maranoa Charlie and that is without his Group 1 win, so we're just happy to go to this race and then keep talking to people. This could be his swansong as some of the offers are too big."
