King’s best bets - 21st October 2025

Sam King is back with two selections on Tuesday.

The first wager of the day comes from Yarmouth, with Eminency strongly of interest in the Join Moulton Racing Syndicate Handicap (3.10).

Eminency's record over seven furlongs is by no means compelling having found the frame only once from seven starts over it, but it might just be that he's now in need of the trip at the age of five.

That certainly looked like the case when he was never going the gallop over the distance at Epsom last time out before finishing off strongly, shaping as though even a mile might be within range nowadays.

He ran the last two furlongs quicker than anyone else that day and ultimately did well to get within a couple of lengths of the winner, who made all the running on a track that looked to favour those that raced prominently.

Rossa Ryan gets on him for the first time since they were denied a nose at Goodwood last June, while the likes of Dashing Dick and Nutmeg should ensure this is run at a decent tempo and with the ground also expected to suit, Stuart Williams' charge looks worth siding with on his first outing at Yarmouth.

Eminency – 1pt Win

Odds – 12/1

Saeed bin Suroor might not be the force of old, but he's still enjoyed a fairly decent season, and it could pay to take a chance on Hazem, who makes his handicap debut from the foot of the weights in the tigerbet.co.uk Brand New Bookie Handicap (4.55) at Yarmouth.

The booking of Danny Muscutt catches the eye. Muscutt has ridden just four times for bin Suroor throughout his career, but he found the winners' circle once and filled the runner-up spot on another occasion, so it's interesting that the Newmarket-based handler has him booked for this unexposed bottom weight.

He looked desperately in need of the run when fading back into fourth following over 450 days off the track at Newcastle last month and surely, he'll take a step forward in terms of fitness with that under his belt.

By Shamardal out of a Dubawi mare, who won over a mile and a half in France, he looks sure to be suited by this step back up to a mile and a quarter on his handicap debut and Saeed bin Suroor's charge might just prove nicely treated off an opening mark of 60.

Hazem – 1pt Win

Odds – 14/1
