Ryan Moore has been named amongst the jockeys competing in the Longines International Jockeys’ Championship, with the Hong Kong Jockey Club official’s hopeful that he can return from injury in time to ride at Happy Valley next month.
Moore remains on the sidelines due to a fractured femur, but should he make his return to the saddle in Hong Kong then he could be set to take on the likes of previous winners Zac Purton, Mickael Barzalona, Joao Moreira and Christophe Lemaire.
Andrew Harding, Executive Director of Racing from The Hong Kong Jockey Club, said: "The Longines International Jockeys' Championship is the world's most coveted such competition and this year we have one of the strongest jockey line-ups in recent years, featuring James McDonald, Mickael Barzalona, Ryan Moore and William Buick – who currently fill top four in the Longines World's Best Jockey standings, and between them this year they have won a string of the world's leading Group One contests.
"The line-up will be boosted, of course, by the inclusion of two-time IJC champion Ryan Moore, and we'll keep our fingers crossed that he recovers sufficiently to be able to participate."
Two of the world's leading female riders Hollie Doyle and Rachel King will also be in action at Happy Valley, with Doyle also set to involved in Hong Kong throughout the couple of months having been granted a temporary license, while the USA will be represented by Umberto Rispoli.
Adding further class to the line-up are New Zealand's James McDonald and Norwegian-born British-based jockey William Buick, who will head to Hong Kong on a high having enjoyed Breeders' Cup success on Notable Speech last weekend.
