King’s best bets - 20th November 2025

Sam King returns with three selections on Thursday.

Lingfield plays host to some decent all-weather action this afternoon and I'm hopeful that Fairy Glen can gain what would be a much-deserved first Listed success in the BetMGM River Eden EBF Fillies' Stakes (1.55).

Consistent in Listed company all season, she looked a touch unlucky when outbattled late on by the classy Term Of Endearment in the Beckford Stakes over a furlong further at Bath last time out, while she also did little wrong when denied a head in the same company at Longchamp in September.

Despite having eighth outings under her belt, it's possible that she could have more to offer now returning to an artificial surface. Her record stands at two from three on all-weather tracks and it was hard not to be impressed with how she kicked six lengths clear of the one-time well-regarded Beeley at Kempton earlier in the season.

I'm hoping that Harry Davies will opt to go forward from his wide draw in stall eleven and with the drop back a furlong expected to suit, she might well prove capable of landing a first Listed prize.

Fairy Glen – 1pt Win

Odds – 11/4

Just thirty-five minutes later on the same card, Sky Safari might just take all the beating in the BetMGM Fleur De Lys EBF Fillies' Stakes (2.30).

It's easy to make a case for the top-class juvenile Shuwari, who did get back on track when landing a Listed race at Longchamp two starts ago, but she's an unknown quantity on this surface and is beginning to hold a far from convincing profile having disappointed once more in the Sceptre Fillies' Stakes at Doncaster last time out.

In contrast, Sky Safari has no so worries over the surface and arrives at Lingfield looking to stretch her unbeaten record on the all-weather to five having snugly got the better of Local Hero in the London Mile Series Final Handicap at Kempton last time.

There's no doubt that she'll need to find a touch more as she steps up to Listed class for the first time in her career, but trainer James Fanshawe is something of a dab-hand when it comes to steadily progressing fillies' and I suspect he can do the trick once more with this progressive daughter of Zoustar.

Sky Safari – 1pt Win

Odds – 7/4

Over at Warwick, Betty's Daisy looks fair value against the current market leader Dream Shadow in the Great British Bonus Supporting Breeders' Day Mares' Novices' Hurdle (2.20).

Trained by in-form handler Ben Pauling, she ought to be well-drilled for her hurdling debut and this represents a drop in class on her reappearance given she was last seen contesting the Grade 2 Nickel Coin Mares' NH Flat Race at Aintree 231 days ago.

Connections must have held her in some regard to step her straight up to Grade 2 level on the back of what albeit was an impressive debut performance at this venue last season and while ultimately well-beaten, she did suffer some trouble in running when weakening out of contention.

This daughter of Jack Hobbs will have done plenty of schooling ahead of her hurdling bow and at the current prices, she looks to have more scope for improvement than Dream Shadow.

Betty's Daisy – 1pt win

Odds – 7/2
