Sam King is back with two wagers on Tuesday.
Following a week away to report on Calandagan's magical Japan Cup success, I'm back on home soil and have spotted a couple of all-weather fancies to warm the winter cockles.
With a number of restricted rider meetings and established riders away for the winter months, this time of year is often a decent opportunity for spotting young talent around the all-weather circuits.
Lillie Dingle might not be a name that many know that well at the moment, but she's already proven more than capable of steering on successfully to the winners' enclosure and I'd hazard a guess she might enjoy a profitable winter.
It was tough not to be impressed with how she delivered Kuiama to record a first career success for the Dylan Cunha team and the same duo partner up together with Luminous Warrior in the opening Read Meg Nicholls' Blog At betmgm.co.uk "Hands and Heels" Apprentice Handicap at Lingfield (11.30).
An unexposed three-year-old, Luminous Warrior is yet to get off the mark in seven starts to date but shaped as though his turn may be round the corner when fourth at Kempton last time out, keeping on inside the last furlong having been well-supported in the betting.
The winner that day has followed up to give the form some substance, while the runner-up also went one spot better next time out. A 1lb drop in the weights combined with Lillie Dingle's 5lb claim puts her effectively 6lb lower here and in what looks like a winnable contest, this unexposed son of Kingman is taken to capitalise.
Luminous Warrior – 1pt Win
Odds – 11/4
Roger Varian's stable form is a slight concern at present, but he has had horses run well over the past few days, so a chance is taken on Relocal in the Make The Move To Midnite Handicap at Newcastle.
Consistency hasn't been his speciality to date by any means, but he proved he was more than capable of winning a race of this nature when denied a head over course and distance two starts ago and it's not hard to see him bouncing back from a recent disappointing run at Southwell.
He looks like the type of horse that tends to just lose concentration at time and with that in mind, I'm hardly shocked to see the first-time blinkers go on. The addition of headgear looks as though it could make all the difference and under what I expect will be an
uncomplicated Billy Loughnane ride, he might prove good enough to gain a first career success.
Relocal – 1pt Win
Odds – 5/1
