Moore makes an impact on return to action

Ryan Moore wasted little time in making an impact in the saddle when returning with a double at Lingfield on Wednesday.

Ryan Moore, who has been out of action since late August with a stress fracture in his femur, was narrowly denied the perfect return when the George Boughey-trained Sovereign Wealth found himself collared late on in the Lingfield opener.

However, Moore didn't take long to set the record straight and struck onboard Richard Hughes' 1-2 favourite Lazzar in the following Join The Midnite Movement Novice Stakes.

"It's been a while so it's good to be back," said Moore on Sky Sports Racing.

Moore missed out on a handful of top-level victories towards the end of the season and will no doubt be keen to get amongst the action at Hong Kong in the coming weeks. The superstar rider looks all set to compete in the International Jockeys' Championship at Happy Valley on December 10th, while Aidan O'Brien's Los Angeles and The Lion In Winter could line up at Sha Tin on December 14th.

"We have some runners there on the Sunday and I'll be riding next week in Happy Valley so looking forward to that," he said.

"The International Jockeys' Championship is on Wednesday and I'm looking forward to it."

Later on the card, Moore proved exactly why he is often perceived as the best in the business when producing the John and Thady Gosden's 5/4 market leader Morrophore with a well-timed challenge to land the feature BetMGM Winter Oaks Trial Fillies' Handicap.

"It would have been nice to be handier but she's a progressive filly, a nice big scopey mare," said Moore.

"She'll probably get a little further and she was well enough in today.

"I just wanted to get her out in the clear, get her balanced and get her rolling. She showed a very good attitude through the line, delighted with her."
