Derby Day at Chantilly 2024

The weather this last week in northern France has been dire so the going is very soft.

The French don't actually have bottomless as a  measure for the going but that is what it well may be.

However we will go with the form that we have and keep our fingers crossed that all runners get through it.  The G2 Prix du Gros-Chêne is over 1000m and has 11 runners, most of whom have appeared recently.  Ponotos won the Prix St Georges on Guineas day and is 5/2 here with Vicious Harry on 7/2 and raider Albasheer on 5/1 for Archie Watson and Hollie Doyle.

The Grand Prix de Chantilly is also G2 but over 2400m, with 7 runners headed by Dubai Honour – Haggas -Marquand – who is favourite on 7/4.  Another raider is Al Qureem for Karl Burke whose horses are on fire at present and he's on 3/1 and the top local is the Godolphin runner Marquisat on 4/1 for Fabre-Barzalona.

The Prix du Jockey Club G1 is the French Derby and these days run over 2100m.  Diego Velazquez was scratched from the Epsom version in order to run here and he tops the board on 7/2 for O'Brien-Moore.  Fast Tracker is in top form and on 5/1 for Pantall- James Doyle and on the same quote Ghostwriter for Cox-Kingscote.  We also like Alcantor on 8/1 for Fabre-Barzalona.

But wait there's more – the Prix de Royaumont is G3 for 3yo fillies over 2400m and 10 will line up.  Aventure is on 7/4 for Ferland- Guyon, Vigatata 4/1 for Rohaut-Buick, and Siyandra and Mosaique are on 8/1.

And finally the Prix de Sandringham is also for 3yo fillies over 1600m with 6 runners.  Jame Chapple-Hyam's Rolica is on 2/1 with William Buick booked for the ride and Ribaltagaia 4/1 for Bietolini who has booked Ryan Moore to ride.
