Shock scratching of Do Deuce

The 478,415 that voted for Do Deuce to run in the Arima Kinen are but some of the fans who are going to be devastated by his scratching, but he was found to be lame in the right foreleg. That was aa record number of votes for the first in the 10 elected horses and no doubt Do Deuce would have started at a very short price.

There are still quite a number of the popular picks still in the field of 16 and Urban Chic now takes over as favourite – he was the 7th pick but the son of Suave Richard did win the Kikuka Sho earlier in the season and will be ridden by Christophe Lemaire.  They are on 3.0.

Tokyo Yushun winner Danon Decile was the second pick in the vote and the son of Epiphanea is on 4.7 with N. Yokoyama to ride.  Bellagio Opera was 3rd in the vote and is on 8.7 with K Yokoyama on board.  Justin Palace was 10th in the race and is on 11.2 having won the Tenno Sho Spring and the 2500m should not be a problem for him.  Sakai will ride and they are on 11.2.

We rather like Stars on Earth who was second in this race last year.  The son of Duramente is on 12.5 and Kawada rides.

And last but not least is Prognosis who was last seen on track at Moonee Valley in the Cox Plate where he got walloped by Via Sistina but than he was the best of the rest.  They are on 12.8 and Miura will ride.

You can make a case for most of the field and it should be a great race even without Do Deuce.  The weather is supposed to be around 15 or less and the sun may peek through the clouds which would be nice,
