Deauville and Hoppegarten G1s this Sunday

At Deauville we also have the G3 Prix Daphnic

But the main attention is on the Prix Maurice de Gheest with 11 competing over 1300m.  Here we see Wathnan Racing's Lazzat on top on 5/4 with James Doyle on board the Jerome Reynier trained runner and if he lives up to the hype he should win however we are not so keen on the price – may even start odds on.  So we have looked for some multiple options and come up with Rayevka, the obvious alternative on 6/1 for Graffard-Barzelona.  We like Beauvatier and even more the 14/1 for Barberot-Pouchin and although this is much shorter than what he usually runs Sajir is a very good horse and is on 20/1 for Fabre- Oisin Murphy.

The Prix Daphnis is over 1600m for 3yos with 12 running.  Scoville is a Too Darn Hot son and has a good chance to pull off a successful raid here and 15/8 OK.  Haggas and Marquand in charge.  Silius, if you ignore his last run, is usually up there.  He's a Dubawi

with Ferland and Guyon and on 5/1, which is good if you can get it.  Khafiz is another raider and this is a bit of a test for him as he's won twice at a low level and this is up in trip as well as class but Varian wouldn't have put him in this if he didn't think there was something to see.  De Souza has the ride.

In Germany today it's off to Hoppegarten for the Grosser-Preis von Berlin, a G1 over 2400m but with only 6 runners however that's because they probably thought Rebel's Romance would have it in the bag.  The globe-trotting  Godolphin runner is a wonderful horse and has no trouble traveling or adapting to different tracks.  Appleby-Buick of course and odds-on of course.  Raiding from nearer is Junko. Andre Fabre's runner who is just coming into form and has the interesting jockey booking of Rene Piechulek who certainly know the track well.  They are on 5/1.
