An unusual happening.
There was quite a storm at Sha Tin on Sunday and with a lot of raining falling and some heavy rain leading up to Sunday there was a spot on the track between the 600m and 500m where the jockeys in an earlier race reported problems with horses losing their footing. With rain continuing to fall it was decided that there was no way that part of the track could be satisfactorily repaired so the last two races were called off which was a wise decision. The Sha Tin track has excellent drainage and generally is fine even after heavy rain but this one section for some reason was not able to clear the water in time.
Wednesday's Happy Valley meeting has also been cancelled as there is a typhoon heading for Hong Kong.
