On Friday the G2 Bahrain International Trophy was won by Royal Champion.

He was favourite for the 2000m contest and received a brilliant ride from James Doyle who encouraged his mount to go flat out to the post and accelerate away from the field leaving the erstwhile leader Galen with a great view of his backside. 

Godlphin's Military Order under Will Buick came cruising down the outside to take the third spt.  Pride of Arras was 4th and Lion's Pride 5th so with the generous prize money on hand they should be able to continue to eat!

Royal Champion added to Karl Burke's excellent year and the horse was bred by Mohammed Obeid in whose colours it races.
