Belclare too Hot for Rosehill rivals

A Group 1 race in Perth could be on the agenda for in-form mare Belclare.

Former New Zealander Belclare has continued on her winning way in the Hot Danish Stakes at Rosehill to put herself in the frame for a Group One raid in Perth.

Since trainer Bjorn Baker removed blinkers prior to her last start, Belclare has led throughout to claim The Invitation (1400m) at Randwick and Saturday's Hot Danish Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill.

The stable's racing manager Luke Hilton said he was confident Belclare would be hard to run down once she got an easy lead.

"I was pretty confident after they'd gone a couple of hundred metres that she was going to be tough to beat. She likes to dictate," Hilton said.

"Tyler (Schiller) rated her perfectly, she's a Group One-winning mare and she showed that today.

"We've spoken about maybe heading over west to a race like the Railway (Stakes at Ascot) in a couple of weeks' time.

"We'll sit down with the owner, he's very involved and he loves this mare, so if he gives us the sign off, we might look at giving her a crack at another Group One."

Belclare ($3.30) bowled along in front and the daughter of Per Incanto kicked strongly to hold Magic Time  ($2.50 fav) at bay by 1-1/4 lengths with Olentia ($5) another 1-3/4 lengths in arrears.

Having partnered the winner in her past three starts, Schiller felt the removal of blinkers had been a masterstroke.

"I think the blinkers coming off have just done her the world of good," Schiller said.

"She loves leading. And I feel like if she could run for Prime Minister, she would, because she's a good dictator.

"It's a great thing when these mares are in form and I suppose Bjorn and the owners just keep cashing in."

Apprentice Zac Lloyd said Magic Time tried hard but faced a tough task to run down the leader after enduring a wide run from her outside draw.

"She went great. Just the barrier killed her," Lloyd said.
