Newcastle Tuesday: O'Shea & Charlton set to strike

The training partnership of John O’Shea and Tom Charlton, enjoying a successful season with 67 winners in New South Wales and a quinella in the Group 1-Queensland Derby in early June, will send a lightly raced promising to Newcastle on Tuesday.

The eight-race country classed meeting will be held on the Beaumont Track and the O'Shea/Charlton stable's filly From The Peak ($2.30 favourite on TAB) resumes from a spell in the 1150m Dailey Family Funerals Maiden Plate.

Raced by Yulong, the Alabama Express 3yo had her only start on the Newcastle course proper on March 7 when a $1.55 favourite on the 1200m Maiden after she was unbeaten in two trials prior to the debut run.

From The Peak began fast and led on the rail before she kicked clear at the top of the straight but was run down late and was beaten a length into second place.

The filly has had two recent Randwick trials on wet tracks and ran on to win the last trial under hands and heels riding. Andrew Gibbons has the mount from barrier three.

Scott Singleton's filly Another Peach ($1.85 fav) can return from a spell and win the opening event the 1250m New Zealand Bloodstock Maiden Handicap.

In her only prep this year the 3yo was placed in three of her four starts and Leeshelle Small will claim her 2kg.

Central Coast speedster Divine Bene ($3.30) is in good form and will be hard to beat in the 1250m Sharp Office Class 2 Handicap.

The Adam Duggan-trained Divine Bene is a winner in his only start on the track in March and in his only five starts since a long spell he has had two wins and three placings.

The rails barrier is a positive and he has very good heavy track form if the rain arrives as predicted. Ash Morgan retains the mount after being aboard in Devine Benes' last two starts.

Dubai Gold ($3.40 fav) a beaten favourite in his first start for Nathan Doyle at Scone on June 10, can atone in the 1150m A-Plus Contracting & Poly Welding Benchmark 58 Handicap.

He trialled twice for Doyle and won both on the Beaumont Track before his first-up run at Scone. Ash Morgan rides him and both trials were on wet tracks.

Prior to Monday's Taree meeting Aaron Bullock led the NSW Jockeys' Premiership with 108 winners, seven ahead of Ash Morgan and Braith Nock.
