Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 9th June 2024

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 09.

Picture: Steve Hart

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Taree, Sapphire Coast, Edenhope, Swan Hill, Sunshine Coast, Port Augusta, Kalgoorlie, Roebourne and Hobart.

TAREE: RACE 2 @ 12:40 PM

RUM DIARY (6) finds his right race today fourth-up and no excuses from the good gate. Gets the blinkers added after finishing a gritty third over 1200m at Gosford on May 16. Should prove too good for these. EXCLUSIVE BATTLE (8) trained on the track and will appreciate the 2kg claim. Ran on late in the heavy conditions when fifth over 1000m here two weeks ago. Extra distance suits and not to be underestimated. HOO HAA (9) bounced back to form with a second place run at Muswellbrook after a less-than-encouraging seventh at Wyong two back. Further improvement can see her in the finish. DIVINE BENE (2) solid effort last start, beaten 0.8 lengths into second over 1250m at this track. In the mix.
SELECTIONS: Rum Diary to win.

SAPPHIRE COAST: RACE 2 @ 1:01 PM

BAMBI BELLE (3) gets the blinkers first time after being beaten as an odds-on favourite at Muswellbrook when leading. Not far off a win and worth another chance. GOOD PRIZE (1) was runner-up at Queanbeyan two runs back then just fair as a short-priced favourite on the synthetic at Canberra. Has a show. SURE INTENTIONS (2) was a drifter in betting when placed first-up so will be fitter for it. Expect some improvement if that's the case. SMIDGE (7) and VORIAH (8)are worth keeping safe fresh.
SELECTIONS: Bambi Belle to win. Trifecta 3-1,2,7,8/1,2,7,8.

EDENHOPE: RACE 3 @ 1:05 PM

SHAKE'N'BAKE (4) has threatened all three runs this preparation and has raced favourite his last two. He will push forward and coming back 200m shouldn't bother. Has Prebble's 1.5kg claim and is ready to win. PRICELESS (9) resumed as favourite at Ballarat over a mile and disappointed. Prefer her over longer but she rates well and has been kept on the fresh side. Has a small claim and can make the finish. HENRY'S FAITH (7) showed enough at Strathalbyn first up to consider. ROSTOPCHIN (11) has only been to the races three times but keeps improving. Good effort last time when second over 1400m at Mt Gambier, beaten one length. Major player.
SELECTIONS: Backing Shake'n'bake.

SWAN HILL: RACE 2 @ 12:10 PM

REVALENE (4) looks the clear horse to beat now. He resumes here having run second in his first two runs in his maiden campaign, behind two smart horses in each run. He then started single figures on Cup day at Flemington in a good 3yo race and dropped out, but finds the right race here from the inside gate. ENUFFON (9) resumes having run second in both runs last time in on heavy ground at Bendigo. That was nearly two years ago so tread carefully but she has trialled well. TURFACTION (5) could show up on debut. DOUGIE'S DREAM (8) resumes and is also a hope fresh.
SELECTIONS: Revalene should be winning.

SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 2 @ 12:49 PM

INVINOVICH (2) resumes here but the form he showed before the spell was more than good enough to feature in a race like this. Has never missed the top-two in four first-up attempts and has only missed a drum once from 12 runs over this course and distance. Rates the testing material. The well-related STAR GAMBLE (1) (half to G2 winner and G1 placed Quantum Mechanic) wasn't too far off them when resuming and will strip fitter for that hit-out. Goes well for Orman and can play a role in the outcome. GOBLIN' DE QUO (4) is a consistent conveyance who is yet to finish further back than fourth in nine starts to date. Has to be included. ARTIE PANTZ (8) has won over this course and distance and may trouble the judge. MISS COOTA (3) next best in a race with only a handful of chances.
SELECTIONS: Invinovich to return a winner.

PORT AUGUSTA: RACE 3 @ 1:30 PM

FAIR LEGACY (3) has thrived since changing stable earlier in the year and making the move from Victoria. She was runner-up in her first 2 outings from her new headquarters and has now gone back to back on this track, including an impressive win here 9 days ago. She is expected to improve again over a middle distance and even though she meets her strongest field yet, she can complete the hat-trick. MUFFLA (6) improved to run a better race at Strathalbyn last time out, finishing runner-up. He will appreciate getting back out to a middle distance and looks well placed in this for his track debut. Stick with him. JAMCRA (2) only battled in a much stronger field at Morphettville last start after putting together a brace of wins at this level before that. He is expected to bounce back into the money here. BADISS (1) was runner-up at a recent Hawker picnic meeting behind the third pick just over a fortnight ago and has won 3 times on this track. Each way.
SELECTIONS: Fair Legacy to win.

KALGOORLIE: RACE 6 @ 5:50 PM

ABLOH (5) was at the pointy end of the market in the Provincial Championship at Belmont last start, finishing just 1.6L off the winner. He rates clear on his rivals off those efforts and drops in weight third-up into the campaign. Needs some luck from the draw, but if he runs up to his recent form he should be getting the job done. VINYL (7) was rather plain here last start over 1400m, though she has won 2/3 third-up into the campaign. Likely to get back in the field, but he was a winner first-up over this track and trip. Can be running over the top of them late. HIGH PRESSURE (8) wasn't disgraced in the Provincial Championship heat here 28 days ago and boasts a strong record at this track and trip. He drops right down in the weights today and if he can return to his best form, he'll make his presence felt. GALAXY AFFAIR (1) was just fair last start but her two runs prior stack up well in this event. Can get back to winning ways.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Abloh.

ROEBOURNE: RACE 6 @ 6:40 PM

MAGIC OF ZEUS (4) was only third in a 4-horse field here as favourite a fortnight ago but did have an excuse as his jockey said he did not handle the kickback from this track. He will be peaking third up and steps up to a more suitable trip of a mile this time. He is likely to push forward and either lead or sit outside the pace which will make him the one to beat. Follow your money. FIND YOUR MAN (2) led all the way when winning in the same race as the top pick last start and is normally even better third up. He has the draw to find the front early on again and he could hold them all out again. ACERMETRIC (3) was fourth fresh up in the same lead-up race here a fortnight ago and he always improves with a run under his belt. Stick with him in a very even contest. CROSSARO (5) is another with form from 2 weeks ago on this track and he too can't be discounted. Include in all combinations.
SELECTIONS: Magic Of Zeus to win.

HOBART: RACE 4 @ 12:22 PM

WICKHAM LIGHT (5) improved again just beaten as favourite and it was a big effort after settling back from the wide gate over a mile. Draws handy today and the middle distance will suit. Keeps Newitt and is the one to beat. MONTEZULU (3) went close over this distance three back and measure his ability on that effort. Comes back in class and distance and will be hitting the line. PINANDI (9) disappointed three times on the synthetic at short quotes and she's likely to show a lot more back on the turf. Loses Newitt but draws well and gives every indication the longer journey will suit. LET'S MESSAROUND (2) was much better here last time over the mile and he's capable of using the inside barrier. In the mix.
SELECTIONS: Backing Wickham Light.
