Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for September 05.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Coffs Harbour, Cranbourne, Mackay and Northam.
COFFS HARBOUR: RACE 4 @ 3:10 PM
TOYGER (3) finished runner-up at his last two outings and looks ready to shed his maiden status at start 14. Sat on the speed from the wide gate when a tiring second over 900m at Newcastle on August 24. Go close with the claim in this easier event. PADAM PADAM (2) much better run at second race start when a weakening second at the end of 800m at Ipswich on August 2. Travels down from Queensland with strong figures. NEROLA (7) is a four-year-old mare by Nicconi out of Lis Nediym on debut for the Kavanagh yard. Recent trial was full of merit and maps to get the right run. ROSE CODE (9) returns from a spell of six months after having mixed success in two career runs. Given a soft trial when third over 1100m at Scone on August 21. Look for her hitting the line late.
SELECTIONS: Toyger to win.

CRANBOURNE: RACE 8 @ 4:30 PM
MR I'M A BELIEVER (10) is a relatively lightly raced type who has placed in both runs back from a spell, beaten 1.9 lengths over 2100m at Sandown Lakeside second up. He'll be fitter again here and looks to have found the right race. FRETTA (6) is a handy mare who looks ideally suited rising in trip third up from a spell. She was just fair last time but is bred to stay a trip and can improve sharply. PROPRIETARY (11) doesn't win out of turn but was good when third at Sandown Lakeside over 1600m last time out. Up in trip now can suit. LODBROK (5) is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Mr I'm A Believer to win.
MACKAY: RACE 7 @ 4:12 PM
BLUE KENTUCKY MOON (4) was quickly back on track beaten a whisker here riding the speed. He draws to better advantage today and fitter again can go one better. COURTESY BUS (9) lifted beaten a nose at Rockhampton from the front bet into short-priced favouritism. Has to skip across from an awkward gate today but is well-placed to go one better, COCHRANE (6) just beat Blue Kentucky Moon home here and it was a strong and deserved victory. The weights don't work out as well today but he has the rail and gets every chance. CIRCULARITY (2) is capable and finally jumps from an inside gate. Huxtable's booking is a positive and he should be ready to show more.
SELECTIONS: Backing Blue Kentucky Moon.
NORTHAM: RACE 3 @ 4:27 PM
RIVER ANGEL (11) looks ready for a bold debut following a good trial win this time in work. William Pike was on board for that trial on August 26 and he remains in the saddle today. The exposed form doesn't look overly strong, leaving the door ajar for a horse like her to shed the maiden tag. SAXON JEWEL (3) brings the best of that exposed form with a 1.5L defeat in tougher company on debut. The wide draw is a niggle, but she rates well off that effort and improvement is expected. Likely to be in the finish once again. AMAROO STAR (1) didn't have much go right on debut, being slow out and being well back in the run. He did close off nicely though and his lead-up trial saw him start a 9-4 chance. Better for the run and sharp improvement is expected. LOONA DAWN (8) looked good when winning a recent trial and Steve Parnham sticking is a positive sign. MIGHTY HOSANNA (4) looks to have come back in good order and is not to be discounted.
SELECTIONS: Going with River Angel on debut.
