Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for September 25.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Warwick Farm, Strathalbyn, Doomben, Belmont and Bendigo.
WARWICK FARM: RACE 5 @ 4:20 PM
Black-type placegetter POPPIN' CHAMPAGNE (9) has impressed in her two NSW runs since resuming. Charged home to win first-up over 1400m at Newcastle then tried hard but was shaded over the same trip at the Kensington track last start. At her best over the mile so anticipating her to improve further this afternoon. MOUNTAIN TOP (11) opened this prep with a couple of wins then went to Saturday grade last time and did a good job to box on for third over 1500m at Rosehill. Very fit now and makes plenty of appeal down in the weights and up to her optimum distance. WATCH MY GIRL (3) returned from a brief spell recently over 1300m at this track and was a shade too good after racing just off the leading pair. Consistent mare who bolted in over this trip at Hawkesbury last prep. Cannot be underestimated. SERENE NIC (5) is consistent and always a threat. COLOURS OF AUTUMN (7) has returned in good order and should be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: Keen to be with Poppin' Champagne.

STRATHALBYN: RACE 2 @ 3:00 PM
SPLASH LANDING (13) has been solid in her three runs back and the form around her has stuck up superbly with a stack of subsequent winner. Peaking now and is drawn favourably. Leading player. SEVEN SHOTS (7) was better here at the latest when beaten narrowly. Comes in fresh 28-days between runs and will appreciate stepping out the extra 150m. Main danger. PAINTED PONY (11) has caught the eye in both runs back when flashing home from rearward positions. Gets the chance to settle closer from the better draw and is among the main hopes. SILVER LIFESTYLE (12) didn't offer boo when returning in town 11 days ago. Will improve with that run out of the way and is worth keeping safe. MENACE TO SOBRIETY (5) showed ability at the trials and is worth keeping safe, especially if the market agrees.
SELECTIONS: Splash Landing to win.
DOOMBEN: RACE 4 @ 3:28 PM
Waller-trained SHY GUY (3) is well into his campaign but continues to threaten and he finds the right race. The near-miss three back this track/trip reads extra well. Maps for the run of the race and Orman sticking aboard is a decent push for his chances. PORT MOURANT (8) improved again narrowly beaten over 1800m at the Gold Coast. He sits down in the weights and the blinkers go on again. Up to this at best. HILLCREST AVENUE (2) peaks and will enjoy the step-up to the middle distance. He narrowly missed this track trip in May in a 78. That stacks right up and he will push forward and Callow will get the most out of him. PEROVIC (1) is capable and is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: With Shy Guy.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 3 @ 4:59 PM
BE BARDOT (4) got the job done in fine style last start to break her maiden, running away to win by 2.2L. The rise in trip looks ideal and she maps to get a similar run this time around for Pike. Looks to have plenty of ability and she can bring up back-to-back wins. SIMPLY THINKIN' (2) returned in fine style over this trip at Bunbury, storming home to just miss out by 0.3L. She draws a much better gate this time and CJP hops in the saddle. She's a second-up winner in the past and she'll take plenty of beating with improvement expected. KINELLINS LEGACY (1) went all the way to the Oaks last campaign where she was beaten a long way, but her runs prior were fantastic. She's trialled well coming into this and she's sure to be strong to the line. CHAMPEZE (3) has been racing in tougher company of late and is sure to make her presence felt coming back to the midweeks. RANDOM REWARDS (6) can peak third-up and out in trip with the aid of an inside alley.
SELECTIONS: Be Bardot can bring go back-to-back.
BENDIGO: RACE 7 @ 5:05 PM
WILLMOTT (5) resumed with a strong win at Geelong over 1325m, scoring in a BM64 by 1.3 lengths. That reads well dropping back to a 0-64 here and he should get a nice run on the pace. RONS FINEST CHOICE (6) was well beaten on debut but improved onto turf at Moe to beat one with handy maiden form. Can go on with it. SHAALUTE (11) resumes. He took on some smart races last time in and didn't quite measure up but the pieces were there to suggest he can figure in a race like this. SHOELESS (9) resumes for a new camp. He got over a bit more ground last time in but has the class to figure here. REPRISAL (2) rates a solid each way hope.
SELECTIONS: Willmott to win.
