Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 06.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Ballina, Cootamundra, Bendigo, Townsville and Northam.
BALLINA: RACE 6 @ 4:10 PM
ZELGARIA (1) resumed in stronger company when a plugging eighth over 1200m at Eagle Farm on September 20. Lone win came second up and can bounce back with the 3kg claim. Hard to hold out. WENDT (5) wasted no time getting off the mark as favourite on debut when a tough on pace winner over 1006m at Grafton two weeks ago. Finds an average C1and can win again. PRESSALONG (7) sharp win on debut two back, then six weeks between runs when a tiring sixth over 1006m at Grafton on September 23. Fitter now and drawn to get a much better run. Improver. CHOCKABLOCK (6) handy mare who was snagged back from the awkward gate when a disappointing seventh over 1200m at the Gold Coast on September 7. Kept fresh and can bounce back with the claim.
SELECTIONS: Zelgaria to win.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Ballina Computer Card.
COOTAMUNDRA: RACE 2 @ 2:10 PM
K'GARI (6) looks ready to win after a couple of solid seconds at Goulburn on end. Was a beaten favourite last time but back onto a good track suits and he should take running down. MAKTABI (2) has been unplaced in all five starts but has shown glimpses and resumes in blinkers. Pay to keep safe. MEATLOAF (3) isn't far off doing something with fourths at his past couple. Sure to be around the mark again. CHEBECI (9) and ROGUE 'N' READY (7) are place chances.
SELECTIONS: K'Gari to win.
BENDIGO: RACE 7 @ 4:50 PM
SACRAMENTAL (12) resumed narrowly beaten at Sandown-Hillside and is further improved. He'd come off a try at Group level and is sure to have come on. He rates to go one better. CHANGING COLOURS (15) impressed winning his Maiden on debut heavily bet and he resumes today and will be naturally improved. A gun hoop is booked suggesting the mare is pleasing. HOWDY (16) is ready to fire off two solid placings at this level. Raced a short-priced favourite at Seymour last time and maps for a soft run. SHINJUKU (5) will race over further but has plenty of ability and has to be considered. Has won fresh this distance range and owns an 800m trial win. In a top barn and the betting will be key.
SELECTIONS: Backing Sacramental to win.
TOWNSVILLE: RACE 5 @ 3:45 PM
GOING NUCLEAR (3) is a former Victorian who missed a whisker first-up and then likely had an excuses following. He has more to give and Wiggins is a key jockey switch. Races forward and is back in grade. Hard to beat. TYCOON LAD (5) runs along and improved again winning a 50 comfortably at Ewan. Butler stays aboard and the hat trick isn't out of the question. VANCOUVER BAY (2) is capable and drops in grade and distance. The 3kg claim brings him into it but the outside barrier cruels. MISS SHALAA (12) is hard to catch but should be around the mark.
SELECTIONS: With Going Nuclear.
NORTHAM: RACE 4 @ 5:50 PM
RED AUTUMN (4) clocked some fast sectionals when running on from the back in Open grade at Belmont last time out, beaten 1.6L. He'll find this a little easier and Pike hopping back in the saddle is a big tick. May need some luck from the draw, but if he gets it he'll be mighty hard to beat. DUBAI'S DAUGHTER (3) hasn't put a foot wrong this campaign when only 0.8L away last time out at this track and trip. She has the peed to roll forward from the alley which is a big tick in this field. Should be hitting peak fitness now and can make her presence felt. RISE TO GLORY (2) disappointed last start, though he has been racing in stronger company than he meets today. He rates highly off his effort two back in Open 3YO company and he'll appreciate coming back to maiden grade. Right in the mix. MAGNIQUE (12) has shown good ability at the trials and is worth including on debut. CASHEL PALACE (9) has trialled well in readiness and can make her mark.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Red Autumn.
