Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for November 27.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Newcastle, Geelong, Doomben, Geraldton, Gawler and Launceston.
NEWCASTLE: RACE 5 @ 2:45 PM
WAR RIBBON (11) has been steadily improving this season as he has stepped up in journey. He capped off some good form with his first win out of his grade on this track nearly 6 weeks ago. His connections will be eyeing up some richer 3-year-old contests later on and he is expected to more than measure up in the higher grade here. Stick with him. OAKFIELD HAWK (3) got in the final stride to score by a short-head at Wyong in his penultimate start before facing a tougher field at Rosehill last time out and finishing sixth. A 2kg claim will help and he will be among the hardest to hold out in this. VAGUER (1) stuck to his task gamely at Canterbury last start when finishing fifth in tight quarters. He carries 62kg but will give another good sight. Each-way. LADY REDWOOD (9) finished third at Wagga last time out and should be thereabouts in the small field here. Include in all multiples.
SELECTIONS: War Ribbon to win.

GEELONG: RACE 6 @ 3:55 PM
HIGH TOR (5) was a smart winner on debut at Mornington, leading throughout to score a comfortable 1.3-length victory. More depth here but she can measure up. SALSA FELLOW (6) will find this much easier than last start at Flemington when running credibly behind Manolo Bling. Right in the mix. FROSTY DAWN (14) has been out of the placings in two runs since a break, the latest when fourth over 1118m at this track. Cherry-ripe now and can find peak form this time. CASH CONVERTER (2) consistent type much improved by two runs back from a spell.
SELECTIONS: High Tor to win.
DOOMBEN: RACE 6 @ 4:03 PM
It's hard to fault the form of ARISPHERE (4) who has strung three wins together on the bounce and is racing with a lot of confidence. Goes well for Jones who has had three wins and a placing from just five steers and will give this a mighty shake from the favourable draw. The well-related TYPHOON TAAVI (2) (half to G1 winner and stallion The Mission) resumes here but the form she showed when last in work was good enough to feature in a race like this. Fenlon is yet to taste defeat in three rides and gets the benefit of her 2kg claim. Looms as the main danger. SKIRT THE LAW (1) is two from three around this circuit and has a bit of class on these. Can run a race while fresh. INSTAGOOD (9) is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley and cannot be discounted. CHERRY ROSE (10) has been racing very consistently in lesser grade and deserves her shot in town now. Always respect mares in form.
SELECTIONS: Arisphere to continue the picket fence.
GERALDTON: RACE 4 @ 6:17 PM
LORD SHIVA (1) disappointed last start at Northam in a CL1 but was racing in top order prior to that. The form out of his last start has been good and he did jump the favourite there. Now 41-days between runs and he has the speed to offset the barrier. Clearly the one to beat on his best form. IDENTIFIER (2) was only fair on resumption over 1200m here but will appreciate getting back to this distance where he is a winner preciously. She maps for a beautiful run under Turner who has two wins when partnering. Wouldn't surprise to see her improve sharply. GOLD KEEPER (5) was only 1.4L off the winner last start over this trip at Bunbury and will find this easier than recent efforts. Back to a CL2 now and the Visors are reapplied. Can make his presence felt. HOT NOVA (11) is better than she showed last time out and can bounce back. POP THE MOET (3) can play a role on debut.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Lord Shiva.
GAWLER: RACE 7 @ 5:50 PM
LIMBERING (8) without doing much winning she's ticking along superbly. Will enjoy the drop in grade and has more than enough early dash to offset the wide draw quickly. Will prove tough to reel in on the quick backup. BOOMSONG (2) was better second-up but tired late. Is another that strikes an easier assignment and should be nearing his peak now. Holder sticking from a kinder draw reads favourably. Main danger. HATEECH (5) returns. Only has the one fresh win to her name, usually getting better the deeper into the prep she goes. Can cross early from the wide draw to race prominently. Certainly one to consider on best form. SHADOWFAX (4) also returns and is a noted fresh performer. Is aided at the weights with the 2kg claimer engaged. In the mix.
SELECTIONS: Limbering to win.
LAUNCESTON: RACE 2 @ 6:31 PM
THONATUS (5) peaks off three near misses here and was a heavily backed favourite last time. Newitt stays aboard and he rates to go one better. CORSA VELOCE (9) is an improver from the Trinder stable and Luke Currie links aboard. The step up to the mile will suit and she maps for the run of the race. Stablemate KICKPASS (2) is third-up and building nicely. Races forward and keeps the handy 3kg claim. RALPH THE ROCKET (4) is proving hard to catch but his lip defeat two-back would see him in the finish. DISTRUSTFUL AWARD (1) is a former WA galloper who would win at best. He just missed a place first up but did a few things wrong last time. Fitter now and has a senior jockey aboard this evening. Could surprise.
SELECTIONS: Backing Thonatus.
