Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for December 19.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Beaumont (Newcastle), Seymour, Rockhampton and Bunbury.
BEAUMONT (NEWCASTLE): RACE 7 @ 5:30 PM
ALLITERATION (3) Exceed And Excel filly out of a Teofilo mare on debut for the Waterhouse & Bott yard. Had the five trials in readiness for this and her recent 1045m trial at Randwick was full of merit. Has the speed to get across from the wide gate with the blinkers added. Must be kept safe. OTONO (1) resuming from a lengthy break after returning good figures on debut when a fast finishing second over 1280m at Canberra Acton on July 10. Given the two soft trials and look for her late. MOONLIGHT DREAM (8) resumed with a disappointing seventh over 1100m at Warwick Farm on December 4. Drop in class suits and improvement anticipated. TRISKELE (14) Street Boss filly expected to turn it around from the low gate today. Snagged back from the outside draw when a dismal 11th over 1300m at Hawkesbury on November 28. Can add value to the exotics.
SELECTIONS: Alliteration to win.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Beaumont (Newcastle) Computer Card.
SEYMOUR: RACE 7 @ 4:30 PM
ANDY WIN (4) gets the nod. He made his Australian debut for the Price & Kent Jnr yard at Kilmore on wet ground and ran well for second as a warmly supported $2.60 chance. He looked smart winning his maiden at Matamata over 2000m prior to coming here so getting to that trip now looks perfect. CAVALRY MAN (1) won two in a row prior to last start when clearly not handling the heavy going at Kilmore as favourite, finishing last. He can bounce back strongly here. HOWLIN' RAIN (5) is coming off a solid win at Caulfield Heath over a handy one. Up to 2000m will be no issue but the draw makes things tricky. DREAMSTONE (7) looks better suited back out to 2000m here and could be an improver. GHEMME (10) could measure up off a solid maiden win.
SELECTIONS: Andy Win to win.
ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 4 @ 2:55 PM
ONE PERCENT (4) missed a nose here on debut off sharp trials and then went Mackay and was beaten 1.5L heavily bet again. The winkers go on and he has the tactical speed to manage the awkward barrier. Keeps the gun hoop and should see out the extra 300m. PEAKING TOM (5) was beaten a whisker here x2 and then hit the line well stepping up to this distance. Raced a short-priced favourite in that and is worth another chance. MOISSANITE (3) switched from the premier Victorian barn and just missed at Thangool first-up when expected to win. He'll be suited over 1500m and has placed second-up in stronger. Maps well and has to be kept safe. HADMYTIME (2) is a leader who spiked his figures narrowly beaten here over 1400m. A leading jockey is reunited and he will give a sight.
SELECTIONS: Going with One Percent.
BUNBURY: RACE 5 @ 3:52 PM
DUG ANOTHER HOLE (2) ran a new peak figure over 1200m here last start when narrowly beaten as favourite. Now third-up into the campaign and he looks ready to go to the next level now out in trip. Needs some luck from the draw but has class and can shed the maiden tag. KAMAKAZI SHOOTER (1) appears the main danger after a 1.2L defeat over this track and trip most recently. He too jumped favourite last start and while he may not have the upside of his main rival, he is knocking on the door of a maiden win. Racing well and can get the job done now. FUNCHAL (13) makes her debut today with CJP in the saddle following a nice trial recently at Lark Hill. The inside draw should give her every chance and in a race lacking some depth, she can make an immediate impact. DASHING ERIKA (10) is also a debutant who has shown enough at the trials. Can feature. SHE'S RESOLUTE (8) won't be far away if she can run up to her recent trials.
SELECTIONS: Dug Another Hole makes plenty of appeal.
