Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 5.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Gawler, Flemington,
Sunshine Coast and Pinjarra.
ROSEHILL: RACE 5 @ 1:25 PM
TARPAULIN (5) above average sprinter gelded over the break. Returns in a winnable race after having mixed luck at Group and Listed level last time in. Has impressed in both trials and his two wins have come on heavy tracks. Will be charging late. STORM THE RAMPARTS (1) courageous on pace sprinter racing in career best form. Adept in all conditions and will prove hard to run down after being nailed on the line when second over 1000m at Randwick. DEPRIVATION (2) back in class for this and expecting improvement on the rain affected track. Far from disgraced when seventh over 1100m at Canterbury in BM88 grade. Value prospect. POKERJACK (6) also comes into calculations off the soft draw.
SELECTIONS: Tarpaulin to assert his class.

GAWLER: RACE 1 @ 12:07 AM
STOLEN KISS (13) was huge last start, running some of the best sectionals of the entire meeting to finish third over 1050m. She's fitter for that first-up run and gives every indication she will relish the step to 1200m. Wide gate makes it tricky but she gets Lachie Neindorf. ARAMOSO (1) comes out of the same race at Morphettville. He's crying out to win a maiden and will give them something to chase here. The final 100m is the worry for him but he's fit and honest. KORATORA (12) was good fresh and with natural improvement, she has to come into it. INTONATION a big watch on debut despite drawn off the track.
SELECTIONS: Backing Stolen Kiss to win.
FLEMINGTON: RACE 4 @ 1:40 PM
KNOBELAS (9) is an exciting filly who has led and bolted in with her past two starts. They gave her an easy time in front at Sandown Hillside but she sprinted away to win by 3.5 lengths in some sharp late splits. Gets in on the minimum, draws ideally and should measure right up. FROM A DISTANCE (6) is a nice type who hit the line well behind an in-form Taken here last time out. Expecting that form to hold up well. SANTA ANA MOON (2) won at big odds last time and 1600m should suit. EVERAIN (3) is two for two this preparation and while up sharply in grade, he appears capable of taking that next step.
SELECTIONS: Knobelas to win.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 7 @ 4:02 PM
WARNIE (4) was backed as though unbeatable in the Ipswich Eye Liner a fortnight ago but disappointed after looking to have his chance. A bigger track should suit so give him another chance in the feature sprint. GUMDROPS (9) battled on fairly but never really looked a chance in the Dane Ripper over 1300m two back. Looks in need of this trip now and with the light weight she makes plenty of appeal. FAR TOO EASY (1) chased War Machine home in the BTC Sprint two back then was poorly away and that was the end of the section in the Stradbroke last time. Has his share of weight but if things go right he is good enough to win a race like this. THE INFLICTOR (3) continued the fairytale for hobby trainer Craig Cousins by winning the Tattersalls Mile last Saturday. Yet to miss a cheque in five runs at this circuit. Great each-way option. OUGHTON (2) sprouted wings to win the Eye Liner at Ipswich last time. Should hold the form at just the fourth run of the prep.
SELECTIONS: Warnie to win.
PINJARRA: RACE 4 @ 4:35 PM
FOREVER BOY (5) won impressively two back before a narrow defeat last start at this track and trip in Heavy conditions. The winner there looks sharp and Forever Boy made him work for it. Needs some luck from the barrier but if he can go one better if he runs up to his most recent figure. STARWALKER (6) made it back-to-back wins last start when scoring narrowly over 2218m on the Scarpside here. Up in grade today, but he drops in weight and he maps to get his chance if good enough. Can bring up the hat-trick. DENNIS CHOUX (3) couldn't make it three on-end last start as he was beaten in the same race Forever Boy comes through. Chris Parnham rides now and he's expected to be right in the finish once again. FAT ROY SLIM (1) is hard to knock on recent form and has to be included. FLASH PADDY (9) can improve sharply third-up and out to this distance.
SELECTIONS: Backing Forever Boy.
