Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 30.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Warwick Farm, Sandown Hillside, Doomben, Balaklava, Belmont Park and Darwin.
WARWICK FARM: RACE 7 @ 4:20 PM
The local GOLDEN STRAAND (10) races forward and just missed this grade/trip at Rosehill after belting the Gosford Maidens by 3.3L. Peaks now and the promising Snitzel colt is well-placed to bounce straight back. THE REPLICANT (13) sits at the bottom of the handicap and rates a threat. Brings placing from Canterbury at this level, and he's on the quick back-up. Maps for the run of the race. CODE IN TIME (3) led but didn't close off on the Kensington well-supported and comes back a bit in trip. He will be fitter and keeps the handy 2kg claim. Races well here and his best would have him in the finish. DONWON (9) stepping out at this course for the first time. Last appeared when he finished third over 1200m at Kembla Grange on July 17. Racing well and in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Backing Golden Straand.

SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 5 @ 2:45 PM
EVERAIN (1) looks very well placed back to benchmark grade having been well supported to win the Silver Bowl Series Final at Flemington last time out, off the back of two smart wins at Mornington and Cranbourne. A mile there may have just seen him out but he now comes back to an ideal trip and gets Williams up. NIMBUSTWOTHOUSAND (3) has always promised a bit but really put them away last start at Bendigo over 1100m, scoring by 2.25 lengths. His run prior over this course and distance was solid and he can improve again now. BETWITCHERY (6) led under Shinn who went for home early over this route last start, holding on by the barest of margins. Drops right in weight with the apprentice on board and will take catching again. LARIO (7) stuck on fairly last time at Flemington and sets up well from the inside with Shinn now jumping aboard. ALERO (4) has ability, up in trip could spark improvement.
SELECTIONS: Everain to win.
DOOMBEN: RACE 3 @ 1:08 PM
NOIRE EMPEROR (3) didn't measure up in Group 3 company last time out but is sure to find this assignment much more to his liking. Had been knocking on the door in the three runs prior to that and a strong showing would not surprise. The well-related TSZYUYA (13) (half to G2 winner Amazonian Lass) returned in fine fashion with a solid second here and Jones sticks in the saddle. Can go one better against this lot. PRAISE YOU (4) has hit the frame at the past couple and looks to be improving with racing. Respect the Gollan/Maloney combination from the favourable draw. IMPERIAL RED (2) strips fitter second-up from the spell and may earn some minor money.
SELECTIONS: Noire Emperor to appreciate the drop back in grade.
BALAKLAVA: RACE 3 @ 1:50 PM
Doesn't appear to be a maiden with huge depth. With three placings from her five starts, EMPRESS OF SOUL (11) goes on top. She's first-up and will likely improve over further deeper into the campaign but several of her runs last time are good enough to win this. She's drawn well and she gets the in-form Jacob Opperman. LOS ALAMOSS (8) could be a danger coming back to 1400m. He was solid enough over further in his first run for the stable. He seems to handle heavy going which will be important here. ELITE THUNDER (3) continues to improve with racing and looks a genuine top-three chance on her last run. Worthy mentions to BLUE ISLES (14) and FIERY MOON (6) who can both run cheeky races.
SELECTIONS: Backing Empress of Soul to win.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 1 @ 1:54 AM
DELICATE WARRIOR (4) bumped into a good one to end last campaign over the mile, but showed good promise. His trial coming into this was very solid and the 1400m first-up looks ideal. Ticks plenty of boxes on resumption and can return on a winning note. COME ON EMMA (3) should be nearing peak fitness third-up following a good effort from off the speed at Pinjarra last start. Out to 1400m now but she looks well placed from a handy barrier and it wouldn't surprise to see her get over the top. NICKELPLAY (7) comes back from the mile today after a good effort in what has turned out to be a hot form race. Her form over this trip prior was very solid and with a good gate, she can be in the finish. THE CRIMSON PIRATE (10) showed enough on debut over 1100m when sticking on gamely and he can put his best foot forward. TALKAWAY (8) was too good at Northam last week and can repeat the dose.
SELECTIONS: Delicate Warrior can land the knockout blow.
DARWIN: RACE 2 @ 3:49 PM
LUNA FIELD (2) has hit his straps since winning his first race here in June, and was runner-up by half a length when chasing a hat-trick on this track in as many starts a fortnight ago. He slides back slightly in grade, and with the aid of a 3kg claim, he is the one to beat again. SUNZOU (3) finished close up in third in the same race as the top pick last start. That was his first local start since making the move from South Australia, and he will be a lot sharper for it. Noel Callow replaces an apprentice, and the pair will be hard to hold out. DUMMY SPIT (5) hails from the visiting Andrew Perdon stable and capped off some consistent placed form with a well-deserved win here 4 days ago. He can repeat the dose. KISSING SUPIDO (1) had no luck at all from a wide gate and tough trip here last time out, 25 days ago. With a kinder trip, he can make amends. Don't risk him. THE GIRL'S BOY (4) ran on late when finishing sixth in the same race as the top pick. He is not out of this.
SELECTIONS: Luna Field should bounce back into the winner's circle here.
