Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 27.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Randwick Kensington, Sandown Hillside, Doomben, Gawler and Belmont Park.
RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 3 @ 2:35 PM
GRAND EAGLE (5) dynamic Farnan colt resuming. Won two straight in his first preparation, including his latest last to first victory over 1100m at Randwick on April 26. Given the one soft trial and worth noting J Mac takes the reins. Tongue-tie goes on and can go quickly through his grades time in. HUON (1) tough gelding resuming with excellent first up credentials. Raced with distinction in stronger races last time in and the two trials were sound. Well in with the claim and shapes as the main danger. PASSEGGIATA (4) speedy mare who had her first run for the Richard &Will Freedman yard on resumption when a battling fifth over 1000m at this track. Pacifiers come off and will prove hard to run down. BODE AKUNA (7) deep into his prep for this and will appreciate the fast tempo. Drifted back from the good draw and never looked a threat over the 1200m at Goulburn, when a poor eighth. Assess on his run at Warwick Farm two starts back. Keep safe.
SELECTIONS: Grand Eagle can continue where he left off last time in.

SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 5 @ 3:20 PM
SHINY NEW DEEL (2) is proven third up and ready to fire with the two solid runs under his belt. At his best over this trip and he has won at the track. Can position handy and Bates' 2kg claim brings him right into it. His best is good enough for this. FAREWELL TO EIRE (5) resumed over a mile on the Lakeside and after bounding at the start there was a stack of merit in the effort. Some trust required but Shinn stays aboard and her second-up record reads well. BOLD STRIKE (9) missed a nose on the Lakeside 7 days ago over a mile. He always puts in and Zahra sticks. He should secure a soft run and is also a live chance. LIKE A TIGER (3) setttled back and was forced very wide at Moonee Valley in stronger. The 2kg claim is handy and he can sit close from an inside gate. Has pieces of form that would see him competitive.
SELECTIONS: Backing Shiny New Deel each-way.
DOOMBEN: RACE 3 @ 1:43 PM
The well-related SOME STYLE (6) (half to G1 winner Peeping) is unlucky to still be a maiden placing at her past four starts and strikes a very winnable contest here. Has placed two from two around this circuit and Thompson stays on top following that last-start narrow defeat. Will be right there when the whips are cracking. OUR JEWEL (14) also hails from a handy family (half to G1 winner Divine Prophet) and has hit the top-five in seven of eight career efforts. Will be rock-hard fit for this and looms as the main danger. MOANA GOLD (12) hasn't been too far away in all three outings this campaign and will be ready to peak now. Top-three credentials. PUFF 'N' HARRY (2) resumes here but showed enough in his first campaign to warrant consideration in a race like this. Don't discount lightly. Former NSW galloper MARGOT'S DEEL (9) is having her first run for the new stable and any push in betting should be respected.
SELECTIONS: Some Style to shed the maiden tag.
GAWLER: RACE 6 @ 4:45 PM
ONE KIND (2) is a relative newcomer to South Australia who was only fair when well-backed at Mount Gambier last start. He wasn't beaten far and he will be better for the outing. The step to 1200m looks suitable and he's drawn to get the perfect run. He will take some beating. CHILKO LAKE (12) can mix her form but she is a winner at the track and distance. She's also drawn well and gets in with no weight after the claim so she also looks a genuine top three chance. SAMANTH (3) was a dominant winner last start, albeit in easier grade and on the dirt. If she can reproduce a run like that then she's a place chance. KRISTOBEL (4) should present fitter third-up and is worth some thought, while the quirky TOGETHERFOREVER (6) showed improvement last start and is capable of running a cheeky race if she can get back to some of her early form.
SELECTIONS: Backing One Kind to win.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 4 @ 5:27 PM
STAR SUPREME (6) resumes and looks ready to fire after two sharp trials. Ignore the last prep, as she appears to have it figured out. Bold return anticipated. LIPSTICK JUNGLE (2) continues to race consistently. Drawn to get every chance and gets in well with the claim. Right in the mix again. ADDICTIVE DREAM (4) is a proven fresh performer, having kicked off his last prep with a win at Pinjarra. Has trialled well in readiness and commands serious respect on return. MISSISSIPPI DAWN (3) hasn't been seen since March but showed promise early and looks tuned for a forward showing after a solid trial. Win won't shock.
SELECTIONS: Backing Star Supreme to win.
