Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 28.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Murwillumbah, Wagga, Bendigo, Rockhampton and Northam.
MURWILLUMBAH: RACE 5 @ 3:15 PM
SORRENTI (12) well supported late in betting on debut when a fast finishing second over 1200m at Ipswich. Has further improvement to come and expected to go one better. SOUTHAMPTON FLARE (4) returns from a 29-day let-up. Back in grade today after racing without luck when seventh over 1100m at Doomben. Trained locally and expecting a much better performance. SIGLO DE ORO (3) came out fast from the awkward gate when a fading eighth over 1350m at Ipswich. Placed here and expected to get a more economical run. HE IS THE KISS (2) deep into the prep and ready to lift after finishing fourth over 1150m on the Gold Coast Poly. Exotic player.
SELECTIONS: Sorrenti looks hard to stop at start two.

WAGGA: RACE 7 @ 4:45 PM
CANNY HELL (1) resumes and brings strong credentials, last seen boxing on well in the Wagga Town Plate in May. Possesses a clear class edge and has been readied with a nice trial at home. Expect him to take plenty of catching. MANSIERE (4) was below his best in three runs this prep but has since been freshened and given a trial. Capable of sharp improvement. CHOICE WITNESS (5) boasts a dominant win here three runs ago and is a strong finisher when the tempo is on. Needs luck from the back but has a knockout chance. JUST GOOGLE ME (11) maps awkwardly but could bob up in the minors at odds. Worth consideration.
SELECTIONS: Canny Hell to win.
BENDIGO: RACE 6 @ 4:00 PM
DELICATE LADY (11) peaks and is the one they have to beat. Followed an easy Maiden win here first-up with a near miss at Caulfield before a 2L defeat at Sandown-Lakeside when she worked to lead. Has a key jockey switch to Lane today and she will skip across and ride the speed. Well-placed to win. Tougher sorting the others. SOREL RISING (3) did a big job from last beaten 1.5L here first-up when expected to need it. Finally draws a reasonable gate and can sit more forward. Likes his home track and should go well again. WHISTLEFIELD (2) resumes with a small claim and has been racing well in stronger company. Has jumped out positivly and first up last campaign she went close on the heavy at Warrnambool in a 70. WALTER SPUR (18) will be around the mark with average luck in running.
SELECTIONS: Backing Delicate Lady.
ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 2 @ 2:04 PM
TEN CARAT LUCY (4) was well-supported here on debut and didn't let backers down with a strong maiden win over the 1050m. Looks ready for the step-up in trip now and gets the services of Huxtable on board from the inside marble. Plenty to like about her prospects. The well-related ZELEZNY (2) (half to G3 winner Kiss A Rose) was a touch disappointing last time out but the form prior was good enough for a race like this. Can bounce right back. SCRUFFY (3) is one from one over this course and distance and gets some weight off with the 2kg claim. In the mix. HI FRANK (5) has placed two from four here on his home circuit and will strip fitter second-up from the break. Include in calculations. FLAWLESS AMBITION (6) next in line.
SELECTIONS: Ten Carat Lucy to go back-to-back to start the career.
NORTHAM: RACE 3 @ 4:52 PM
BONDI BUSINESS (3) has been off the scene for a while, but he posted a strong relative number here on debut and resumes today for the new stable owning a comfortable Lark Hill trial win. He has the talent and will be naturally improved. DASHING DIVA (14) wasn't beaten far at Belmont on debut and resumes owning a Belmont trial win. Draws awkwardly but sits at the bottom of the handicap and she will have come on..SWINGMAN (10) was tried at Stake level on debut and has trialled well for the return. Maps well and a bold run is likely. PROFOUND BENEFIT (1) rates well but draws wide and gives away starts. There was a stack of merit in his effort here last time, and he's a chance if things go his way. BEYOND THE WALL (2) has been knocking on the door, but the longer sprint is a query.
SELECTIONS: Bondi Business appeals most.
