Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 29.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Gosford, Ipswich,
Alice Springs, Tamworth and Pakenham.
GOSFORD: RACE 8 @ 4:55 PM
AGENDA SETTER (6) resumes from a spell after contesting tougher races last prep, most notably the G2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint at Randwick. Promising type that has been readied with a solid hitout. Lloyd piloting from the low draw adds confidence. CLANCY (2) made an immediate impression when scoring on debut at Warwick Farm. Open to sharp improvement off that performance and rates one of the leading hopes. BARTOLF (1) raced below his best last time when eighth over 1300m at Randwick. Look for an improved run here. JAMBALAYA (3) steps out at this course for the first time. Last appeared when he finished fourth over 1000m at Randwick Kensington and could be ready to improve out to this distance third up.
SELECTIONS: Agenda Setter to win

IPSWICH: RACE 4 @ 2:18 PM
CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS (9) improved again when beaten just 1.5L at the Sunshine Coast. That's good form and with Thompson sticking in the saddle this contest is winnable. CLUBHOUSE (4) was outgraded at Eagle Farm and then just missed here over the distance. Has the inside gate and will go close holding that form. HARD TO DISMISS (7) rates well enough off his 1L defeat at Casino, heavily bet. Peaks today and is an each-way hope. VON BEE (3) has been racing in stronger and is better than the form line suggests. Finally draws an inside barrier and quick improvement is on the cards. HAKATERE (2) resumes for the Freedman yard. Didn't come up last preparation but showed some ability the one before. Draws low and placed in a recent trial.
SELECTIONS: Going with Champagne Problems.
ALICE SPRINGS: RACE 2 @ 3:00 PM
GRINZINGER LASS (2) has been holding her form well this prep, and was a game runner-up here nearly 3 weeks ago. She has a good draw, and with 1.5kg less to carry, she will be hard to beat. FRANKFURT (1) cannot be faulted for his consistency recently, and he was only a neck from the winner at Darwin nearly 4 weeks ago. He has won here in the past and will be right in the finish again. STEP FORWARD (3) has recently tackled some tougher fields at Darwin, and both of her career wins have been on this circuit. Stan Tsaikos picks up the ride, and the pair merits healthy respect. INCIVILITY (4) has set the pace in his last 3 starts before being run down in the home straight. He is the likely leader here and is worth including in all combinations. NO CASH HERE (5) resumes from a spell with the advantage of a handy gate. Watch the market for any positive moves.
SELECTIONS: Grinzinger Lass should be the one to beat here.
TAMWORTH: RACE 7 @ 4:30 PM
POWER BEAU (4) went close twice in the country and then didn't finish it off at Eagle Farm. He comes back plenty in grade and maps for the run of the race. He's well placed and is the one to beat. MISS PASSION (10) has switched from a leading Victorian stable and flies fresh. Her form is more than good enough, but she's been off the scene for 527 days. She's had 4 trials and has the inside gate. The betting moves will be key with her. FLORINO (6) was good at Randwick-Kensington and here following in this grade, and then didn't handle the heavy testing conditions at Mudgee. He's been given 54 days to get over that and performs on the fresh side. Keep him well onside. FEMME FATALE (9) didn't enjoy the heavy track at Muswellbrook but went close at Doomben and Ipswich prior. She is free running and will give a sight.
SELECTIONS: Backing Power Beau.
PAKENHAM SYNTHETIC: RACE 3 @ 5:45 PM
LEAVING LAS VEGAS (4) will never find a more suitable race to register what has proven an elusive first win with the scratching of Setheus, who looked the only danger. Hard to be too confident about one that has six second placings from seven starts, especially when you've got to take long-odds-on, but many of those races have been stronger races than this. MIDNIGHT IN MINORI (9) should be nearing peak fitness now after three runs back. Likewise, CELESTIAL OPTION (2), who draws well. NIKEPHOROS (5) will be better for the first-up run is suited up in trip. GEMOFSIXTEENCARATS (3) ran an improved race last time and has the draw to put in another good run.
SELECTIONS: Leaving Las Vegas to win.
