Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Cootamundra, Ballina, Bendigo, Townsville, Northam and Alice Springs.

COOTAMUNDRA: RACE 2 @ 1:45 PM

BRUTAL BELLE (5) keeps finding one better but went down narrowly at Moruya last time. Deserves a change of luck and only needs to hold form to strike here. DOUBTFREE (2) is in the same boat, stringing together four straight placings including Wagga last start. Gets another golden chance to shed the maiden tag. SHOOTING FIRM (9) has had plenty of tries but Cahill knows him well and the claim is a good help. Capable of being in the finish again. REEF ROAD (4) has been inconsistent but at his best can match these and looks a live hope in a thin race. MISS EADIE (8) was fair on debut but flat at Canberra second-up. Keeping safe third-up.
SELECTIONS: Brutal Belle to win.

BALLINA: RACE 7 @ 4:50 PM

NEED FOR SPIETH (16) returned from a lengthy spell with a dominant all-the-way win over 1206m at Grafton last start. Lightly raced colt who is an untapped talent. Nicely drawn and although meeting a far deeper field today he has the ability to match them. ASSENT (5) hasn't been far away in his two runs this time in work, most recently missing the placings narrowly over this trip at Lismore after travelling on a limb. Big chance to return to the winner's list with a little more luck in running. NATIONAL INTEREST (8) came from near the tail to record a barnstorming maiden win recently over this distance at Grafton. Took forever to break the ice but might be worth following now. DEEP STEALTH (10) resumed nicely at Grafton. Fitter and very much a mare with upside.
SELECTIONS: Need For Spieth to salute again.

BENDIGO: RACE 3 @ 2:35 PM

STREET ARTIST (2) is off a let up here having avoided the temptation of black type company and looks very well placed to score again here. He was having his first start as a gelding when last seen at Mornington and was dominant winning by five lengths in fast time. This is a handy BM64 but he'll be short in betting and a likely winner. TEINE AULELEI (4) resumes. She won in good time on debut here before a strong close to grab third behind a smart one at Caulfield. She's got ability and any improvement has her firmly in the mix. LOFTY THOUGHTS (1) resumes. He only had the one run last time in, winning narrowly at Ballarat Synthetic. Prior to that he'd been tested in some strong 2yo races and looked talented. Can run well. PURE PASSION (3) was far too good at Kilmore breaking her maiden last time and has race fitness on her side. SERINDA (7) next best off a solid maiden win fresh.
SELECTIONS: Street Artist to win.

TOWNSVILLE: RACE 2 @ 2:05 PM

The penny has dropped for OUT OF LUCK (2) who has three wins and a placing from just four starts this preparation and is racing with a lot of confidence of late. Is one from one over this course and distance and should prove very hard to hold out. CONVERTOR (5) has placed five from six over this track and trip and has just run into one better at the past couple. Sure to run well again. READY TIGER (1) has a handy record here on his home circuit with two wins and three placings from seven spins. Look for a better run. BOMBINATE (7) doesn't win out of turn but is usually thereabouts and is a must for the multiples. AIDENABET (4) goes well for hoop Jokic who has a win and four placings from seven steers. In the mix.
SELECTIONS: Out Of Luck to continue the rich vein of form.

NORTHAM: RACE 6 @ 7:30 PM

TORONADO ROCKET (2) was far too good last start, landing midfield and running over the top of his rivals to score by 1.6L. The rise to 1400m doesn't look an issue and he's shown some adaptability this campaign. May need some luck from the barrier, but Pike sticks and he can bring up back-to-back wins. TASSORT WE WANT (8) was a good winner when sitting on the speed on the Fibre Sand at Bunbury 45 days ago. Up to this trip off a short break is a query, though he looks a very progressive type. Maps for a lovely run and it wouldn't surprise to see him bring up another victory. IDODOMYA (7) got all the way to the Oaks last campaign and showed plenty of ability. Short of her best trip here first-up, but she obviously has some class and Parnham hops on board. Can play a leading role on resumption. ZIPPY ZANY (5) is knocking on the door of another win and is not to be discounted. SHAULA (4) has to be included on recent form.
SELECTIONS: Backing Toronado Rocket to go back-to-back.

ALICE SPRINGS: RACE 2 @ 1:42 PM

MATRON SAMSING (2) brings compelling synthetic form from Victoria on a 104-day return. Now under the care of Kerry Petrick and is likely to be too good if presented on song. The betting will be key. MOUGENOT (1) was heavily backed and justified the support scoring by 1.5L lengths resuming over 1000m. Open to plenty of improvement and can go close. Ditto KING BLING (3), who held on well to finish 1.5L behind the above when resuming. He has plenty up the sleeve and the longer sprint suits. Doubt there's much between BATTLE JACK (4) and BOOM SMASH OPERA (5), but they'd need to lift to threaten in this contest.
SELECTIONS: Matron Samsing has the numbers.
