Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Flemington, Eagle Farm, Morphettville and Ascot.
RANDWICK: RACE 6 @ 3:30 PM
The Kosciuszko form looks key here. CHIDIAC (10) loomed strongly from the awkward draw when giving Clear Thinking a real fright to run third over 1200m here in The Kosciuszko. Gets a more economical run today and winning apprentice hops back on. Due for a change of luck. GALLANT STAR (1) has a good record over this course and trip and goes just as well second-up. Given every chance when a valiant second in The Kosciuszko. Will appreciate Grima's 3kg claim and will prove hard to hold out from the soft gate. MOGO MAGIC (2) showed his true potential when giving them a galloping lesson in fast time over 1250m at Randwick Kensington. Drops sharply in weight and sure to start hard in the market. SO YOU PENCE (8) covered plenty of ground in the run second-up when an eye catching fifth over 1200m in The Kosciuszko. Set to peak with Morgan aboard and gets every chance to run out a strong 1300m.

FLEMINGTON: RACE 9 @ 4:35 PM
SURFIN' BIRD (15) is the intriguing runner. She's a lightly raced mare who has won 4/5 starts to date, utterly dominant at Caulfield in a BM70 last start, setting midfield off a strong speed and obliterating her rivals in outstanding time. That was a clear peak performance and this is much harder but if she runs to that level, she measures right up. GUMDROPS (10) has just found one better in both runs this time in, trying hard behind all-the-way-winner She's Bulletproof at Caulfield last time. She needs to run out a strong 1400m which this will be, but McDonald sticks and she's ready to peak. SHE'S GOT PIZZAZZ (2) looks suited going to 1400m third up. She hasn't been beaten far in two runs back and did win her only go this trip. PONDALOWIE (14) is going better than the form guide suggests, she draws a gate here and 1400m looks ideal. FANCIFY (1) won this race last year in slick time leading throughout. She's perhaps not going quite as well and may not get the same conditions here.
SELECTIONS: Surfin' Bird to win.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 7 @ 2:42 PM
WOWZINO (3) boasts a win over this nine-furlong journey and has placed two of three starts around this circuit. Will be at peak fitness for this and should be right there at the business end. ROAD TO PARADISE (10) got the chocolates at the latest effort and will have derived a stack of confidence from that breakthrough victory. Can go back-to-back without surprising. KAFFIR LILY (9) is a last-start winner who get in very well at the weights with the claim. Has to be included. BIG TICKET BOY (2) draws the inside alley and may make his presence felt with Thompson in the saddle WONDERLAND STAR (7) gets the dependable Dunn/Mallyon combnation and may earn some minor money.
SELECTIONS: Wowzino to win.
MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 8 @ 4:17 PM
THREATENING (3) has made a very good impression since arriving in SA and looks well placed to win again. He's shown a sharp turn of foot at both recent runs, including last start where he got back to near last and rattled home late to run third. He draws well and drops back to 1200m here. If he's within striking distance, he's the horse to beat. THERE GOES MY HERO (2) got back and ran home very well first-up. His second-up record is brilliant so he must go into calculations. TOTTORI (10) could be ready to peak after a couple of runs back from a long spell, while ROB THE BANK (1) is a last-start winner that looks a chance to continue his winning rise.

ASCOT: RACE 6 @ 3:15 PM
SAVAGE DANCER (9) was a savage drifter in betting first-up but looked the winner midway down the Belmont straight before her fitness gave way. Better for that run and out to 1200m now is a big tick. Pike rides from a much better barrier and she looks set to go one better. AWESOME BOY (1) resumes here without a trial, but he showed good ability in his 3YO campaign which saw him start a $10 chance at Listed level. Can be positive from the draw and he'll give a bold sight if he's fit enough. HARD SOLO (10) bolted in two back at Geraldton and took on the Belgravia last time out where she wasn't disgraced. Down in the weights again today and she has the speed to offset the sticky barrier. Can put her best foot forward. GOLD FLAKES (2) got back to winning ways last time out and can build on that performance. ALASKALOT (3) hasn't been to the races since 2023, though showed promising signs in his recent trial. Any market moves have to be respected.
SELECTIONS: Savage Dancer can go one better.
