Race 1: AWU WA MAIDEN (2,000m)
Tricky race to kick things off. BOYZ LITE UP (6) looks as though he wants this trip following his most recent effort where he stormed home from a long way back over 1650m at Belmont. Drawn better today which looks to suit him too and he's open to plenty of improvement. Can see what he's capable of today. STAR PROPHET (1) is better than what we saw last time out when a long way back over 1300m. He jumps right up in distance today, but that mightn't be a bad thing for him, and he has plenty of fitness under his belt. Drawn better today and can improve. SPANISH KAT (2) stuck on well over 1916m at Albany last start and is one who we know will see out the journey. The 3kg claim comes in handy and he won't be far away. RIBELLATO (5) is building nicely and can make his presence felt.
Race 2: BRIDGETOWN JIGSAW PUZZLE GALLERY MAIDEN (2,000m)
SUMMER'S LEGACY (11) has been knocking on the door all campaign, just falling short over 1685m at Bunbury most recently when favourite. Suspect drawing away from the inside is a big tick for her and Pike remaining in the saddle is a big tick. Suspect we can see the best of her now and she should be getting the job done. DECISION MAKER (8) found them a bit quick over 1400m at Bunbury last time out and steps right out to 2000m now fourth-up into the campaign. May need a touch of luck from a sticky alley but suspect this trip will suit and he can be a sharp improver. SNIFFY TIFFY (9) got back to her best over this course and distance 10 days ago as a 20-1 pop. She'll get back from the draw once again, but if there's some good speed up front she'll be finishing strongly over the top. TRULY SWEET (10) comes through the same race as Sniffy Tiffy when only 2.3L off the winner. Drawn better today and won't be far away. AGRABAH (3) is best of the rest.
Race 3: SAMANTHA ELLIS & MAUREEN AXON MEMORIAL HANDICAP (1,000m)
Good maiden down the straight. SUPERNATURAL (9) showed plenty in her debut campaign when jumping favourite in Saturday grade at Belmont back in August prior to the spell. She's trialled in good order coming into this event and she hasn't drawn too bad for the straight course. Can run over the top and get the job done. DE GRANDHOMME (5) is on debut for the Durrant stable out of the Group 2 winning mare Black In Time. He's from a winning family and Pike remains in the saddle for his debut effort. The outside draw is a massive tick for the straight course and he'll make his presence felt. SCENIC GEORGE (4) was knocking on the door throughout his maiden campaign as a 2YO and trialled with Supernatural coming in. Chris Parnham rides now and he has good early speed. Big chance. PROMISING (10) trialled well recently and getting onto a firm deck can see her at her best. COONDLE (1) is ready to peak now third-up and won't be far away.
Race 4: REMEMBERING PETER GANNON HANDICAP (1,000m)
MAGIC BELLE (4) resumes today on the back of a couple of handy trials recently. She's performed well at a higher level than this grade and she has the speed to get to the outside from barrier 6. Nicely placed after the claim and she may prove too speedy and classy for her rivals. BERRY BERRY GOOD (10) resumed with a solid effort over 1190m at Narrogin and he can build on that effort in this race. He's raced well over 1000m previously and the outside draw suits perfectly for the straight course. Can put his best foot forward. SPEEDY NOVA (12) was beaten 2.6l over 1190m at Narrogin last time out in what was a much better effort as favourite. CJP rides now and the outside alley should see her be in the right spot in running. Can bounce back to form. WEAPONS HOT (1) won impressively at York when leading throughout and has to be respected on that effort. KIA ORA TATOU (2) gets the blinkers on and will be fitter for two trials first-up. Pike riding is a big tick.
Race 5: OWN THE DREAM 2025 REGISTRATIONS OPEN HANDICAP (1,000m)
AVOIDANCE (2) won impressively first-up at Albany before coming to town and bumping into a sharp one. He lost no admirers there and the outside alley is perfect for him. Should be peaking third-up and just needs to hold his form to be winning this race. RISEANFALL (6) only had one run last campaign when disappointing at Belmont but she looks nicely placed in this race today while fresh. She has good speed and should be prominent in the run. Live chance if she can get back to her best form. BUTTERFLY HOUSE (7) has been in great form this campaign and rattled home from the back most recently over this course and distance. May be able to take closer order this time from the alley and go one better. GO GO GROMMET (3) beat Butterfly House last start but does meet her worse at the weights now. The rating stacks up though and he can repeat the dose.
Race 6: YOUVE GOT THE TABtouch HANDICAP (1,300m)
SKYTALKER (2) resumes today and turned in a handy trial at Belmont coming into this event. The winkers come off now and he finds a great race first-up. He was working through the grades nicely last time in work and was competitive in Saturday events. Can pick up where he left off and land the knockout blow. SAULOK (3) never got a chance first-up when a long way back in running and the overall time being slow there. This presents as a much better opportunity for him today off the inside barrier and he can sit much closer today. Expecting a sharp turnaround in his form. I'M NIPOTE (1) drops back slightly in trip today following a solid effort at Belmont last time out over 1400m. He's a third-up winner in the past and he looks to be trending back towards his best figures. Should get his chance once again. AT YOUR SERVICE (8) won impressively at Belmont last start and can go on with the job. AIN'TSOBAD (5) was far too good on resumption and can build on that performance.
Race 7: SWAN DRAUGHT HANDICAP (1,600m)
ROMMEO (1) rocketed home strongly second-up at Bunbury and he looks ready for the mile third-up. First time out to this trip, but it looks to suit and he can stay out of trouble from the draw. Form out of his last start has been solid and he can go one better now. WHAT'S THE POINT (5) looks a nice prospect on the way through, crossing to sit outside the leader and being too strong over 1300m here last time out. That's a good sign for the mile now and he should be able to roll forward from barrier 8. Will be tough to run down. SHOWLAS (11) jumped a 40-1 chance last start at Bunbury but dismantled her rivals in impressive fashion. She should be on the speed again from her low draw and if she can improve further out to the mile, she'll take plenty of beating. MILLY'S CLEVER TOO (4) ran home strongly from well back last start and appears to be looking for the mile now. Won't be far away. KHUTOS (3) is nicely placed here out to the mile and ca improve on recent runs.
Race 8: CERAMICO TILES & BATHROOMS FAMILY RACEDAY 22 DEC HANDICAP (1,200m)
HISTORY WON'T CARE (6) worked through the grades impressively in his debut campaign and jumped favourite in a good race at Belmont before the spell. Drawing out may be an issue, but he was good on the Scarpside here on debut over this trip. Blinkers go on now and he can resume on a winning now. EN PLEIN AIR (10) was sound first-up over 1000m here but will appreciate getting up to this trip today. Pike remains in the saddle and she should settle in a much handier position this time around. Still a progressive horse who can get the job done today. ZEEZEA (11) scored a good win two back followed by a 2.3L defeat at Bunbury most recently. The form out of that race has been solid and she looks well placed from the barrier today. Can put herself in the finish once again. ELBOW LOUNGE (1) was good off a freshen over 1000m here last start and can improve now out to 1200m. BARTIME (4) was a good winner last time out and has claims.
