Say from SA: Morphettville – 30th August 2025

Best bets for the nine-race card at Morphettville on Saturday.

Racing returns to the big track at Morphettville on Saturday and, while there are no Stakes races, there are some potential spring aspirants stepping out on what is likely to be a rain-affected track.

One of them is blueblood colt Cash and I think he is arguably the best bet on the program in Race 8. The Michael Hickmott-trained son of Snitzel was a head-turning winner at Moonee Valley last season before looking the winner and being collared on the line at Murray Bridge first-up.

On that occasion, he hit the front halfway up the straight and appeared to get a little lost in the final furlong of the race. I'd expect Todd Pannell to ride him to hit the line on Saturday and, provided he's got something to chase, I think he'll be hitting the line powerfully and will win.

Most of his rivals have found their level but I imagine he's a horse that will able to rise through the ranks beyond the Benchmark 64 handicap he tackles on Saturday.

As far as value goes, I'm keen to be with Darknconfidential on an each-way basis in Race 5. He's third-up and steps to 1600m which I think is a winning recipe for him. From a low draw and with a 3kg claim, he should get an economical run.

I thought his last run over 1400m in a race dominated on the speed was full of merit and he's a previous 1600m winner in decent three-year-old company last campaign.
