Best bets for the ten-race card at Morphettville on Saturday.
Feature racing returns to Morphettville on Saturday with a ten-race card headlined by the Listed Hill Smith Stakes for the three-year-olds.
There are some solid support races on the card including Race 4, which is a heat of the Skybeau Series. The market has this spot on with Guru Warrior the well-supported early favourite.
The Andrew Gluyas-trained four-year-old won well last start, maintaining his unbeaten record in races beyond 1600m. He rises slightly to 2006m on Saturday and maps in a beautiful trailing spot from a low draw.
It's a BM72 in name but no horse is rated above 65 so it looks a thin race and the perfect stepping stone for a progressive middle distance horse. I think he'll win easily and the $2.15 on offer appeals.
I'm also keen to back Swiftie Harriet each-way in Race 9. I was keen on her chances first-up in an easier race at Balaklava and, while she ran well with 61.5kg, she went down narrowly.
With the benefit of that run and a good draw here, I think she can park just behind the speed and be somewhere in the finish. Happy to play on an each-way basis at $6.
