Racing under lights at Launceston on Wednesday night and thanks to Tasracing, here's your race-by-race rundown.
You can catch all the racing action from Launceston and around Tasmania on demand right here from Tasracing.
CAN'T CATCH CHILLI (9) peaks off two narrow defeats here. Should get some cut out of the track this evening, which she enjoys. Has early speed and gets her chance. BAD ALIBI (8) was well supported on debut. Stalked the speed but dropped away (found to have some off-foreleg lameness post-race). All must be in order, and quick improvement is on the cards. VABUIAGI (10) debuts owning a Hobart trial win. Has a low gate and 2kg claim and a bold run is on the cards. SMASH 'N' GRAB (6) resumed on a heavy track at Hobart, and it was a solid effort. The tongue tie goes on this evening, and the speedy mare has placed second-up. Her best would see her around the mark at odds.
TIMMIE LAD (7) was only beaten 1.3 lengths on debut over 1400m at this track when expected to need the outing. Draws inside again and has been kept on the fresh side. Darmanin is a key jockey switch replacing the apprentice. This is winnable with the extra fitness. DON TURBOAS (6) rates similarly on a narrow defeat at Hobart over 1200m heavily bet. Third up now, and is capable of making amends. MONCLERE (5) placed here over 1400m and is on a quick back-up. Must be pleasing and a senior hoop replaces the 3kg apprentice. Draws inside and can't be ruled out. ARCADE BOY (1) comes out of the same race and disappointed. Spiked his figures beaten a nose this track/trip prior. The in-form Byrne Burke stays aboard and he rates well enough to consider at good odds.
THE LONGEST YARD (2) ran on strongly to miss a nose here over 1400m. He was beaten a long head at Hobart prior and should hit this contest at peak fitness. Gets a soft on-pace run and is nicely placed to take it out. FIORENTE DE LEGEND (7) had been freshened and then was quickly back on track when narrowly beaten in a 60 at Hobart, heavily bet. 2x winning rider Darmanin is reunited, replacing the 3kg apprentice. Sits near the bottom of the handicap and can go one better. IT'S JAGGER TIME (3) improved again winning a CL2 easily at this track/trip. This is a step up, but he maps well and is on a 5-day back-up. Must be pleasing and Sanderson will give him every chance. Wary of the talented former Brisbane galloper BEAUTANTES (1), who has raced in Melbourne at his last two in better races. He's been freshened, and the betting will be key.
"It took a couple of runs to hit his top last prep, and I think he’ll improve on tonight, too."

RACE 4 - RACING AND SPORTS BEST BET
ALPINE FURY (1) is a progressive type who was heavily backed at Hobart first-up, beaten 2.6L over a shorter sprint. Has his first start at Launceston and has plenty up his sleeve. He can make amends with average luck in the run. CORSA VELOCE (4) had been off the scene 301 days and did a good job first-up when beaten just 1.6L this track/trip. Came from back in the field and she's capable of sitting closer today. Will have come on and the Byrne Burke-Trinder linkage is hard to risk. COOL CONQUEST (7) is back after 5 days and brings a string of narrow defeats. Has a handy 2kg claim in easier grade and maps for the run of the race. A player. TIZSA NICE DROP (6) has been kept on the fresh side and drops back from a middle distance. Has Pires aboard today and will be finishing the race off at a price.
ROUNDLE PARK (7) resumes and brings strong form from the synthetic. He was backed off the map at his last two and capping a near-miss with an easy Maiden win. Has trialled well for his return and has the early speed to manage the awkward gate. Respect this jockey/trainer linkage. GEORGARONI (1) has won both starts fresh and is a promising galloper ready to go on. He will have taken improvement and Pires stays aboard. HALEN (3) is a chance as well. Bounced straight back winning comfortably here this grade over 1400m. Has weight relief this evening with the 2kg claimer engaged. Dropping back 200m shouldn't bother and he maps for a soft run. STAR WALKIN' (4) peaks and his effort here two back would see competitive. A value player.
Tricky. MAKE A DECISION (6) has been busting to win and tumbles in weight this grade with a 2kg claim atop. That brings him right into it and he'll be hitting the line hard. ZEWINNA (1) resumes and is well placed with the 3kg claim. Draws inside and will have taken fitness from her two trials. She's Group placed over 1400m, and it's just a question of readiness. QUICKEN UP (4) was back to her best when comfortably winning a 64 this track/trip. Well weighted with a form jockey aboard, and she's been kept on the fresh side. Doubt there's much between GEE GEE ENUF SPEED (2) and FLYING BILLIE (3), and they deserve plenty of consideration as well. The former is on a quick backup, and in the small field they'll get every chance.
MILES 'N' MILES (4) has been knocking on the door over a mile, and the longer journey is ideal for the course/distance winner. Rates well enough and carries 3kg less in stronger. NIGHT INVADER (3) bounced back working home in great style here over 1600m. She also finds a tougher race, but on what we've seen, the step up to the middle distance will suit. The improving mare will get every chance. DON'T GIVE UP (2) races forward and capped a middle distance placing here with an easy win at Hobart in a 60. That form stacks up. HICANE (1) peaks and has been around the mark. He can get some of the money in this lineup.
BAYBOUGG (4) saluted here before coming back and finding one better this grade/trip. Rates well for this contest and a top hoop takes over from the 2kg apprentice. She can bounce back. ELEGANTLY WRITTEN (3) missed a whisker here and then just missed the placings as favourite also over this distance. Gets in well at this level with the 2kg claim and should go close. LAUNNIE NIGHTS (9) is hard to catch, but his placing here two back stacks right up. Will carry just 52kg with the apprentice allowance, and it wouldn't surprise to see him in the money. STEEL MIST (5) also mixes the form but is good on his day. He should be around the mark.
