Race 6: Yasuke
It is rare to see horses come from stables like Chris Waller's and reproduce their best form but that's exactly what the W Clarken & N O'Shea camp have been able to do with Yasuke.
Stepping out over the 1000m in his stable debut, a trip I thought far sure of his best with his peak ratings coming over 1600m+, the five-year-old son of Maurice radiated arrogance when launching late to score with a fair bit up his sleeve.
The gelding will only be improved from the hit-out and with the win has proven extremely versatile. Not exactly sure what's next for Yasuke but I want to be with him wherever he goes.
Two other honourable mentions must go to Prairie Flower and Miss Slipstream.
Prairie Flower lived right up to market expectation in race two (2) when dismantling solid opposition, albeit a small field. Matching her peak first-up rating, the mare zipped home in 31.80secs, with our sectionals telling us that she should've beaten them by further than the 3L margin. Suggest there's some black type around the corner for the five-year-old.
Miss Slipstream again savaged the line in her second start and will be breaking the maiden very soon.
