We've found a horse to follow from Murray Bridge on Saturday.

R2 – Blandford Baron (2nd)

The first two-year-old race of the season, the Moorundi Classic, was run and won at Murray Bridge on Saturday. I rate the winner Inhabit highly, as do connections, and she will now be aimed at the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast in January.

I thought the run of the second horse, the Travis Doudle-trained colt Blandford Baron, was very good. He finished less than a length behind the speedy filly and, for a fleeting second inside the final 300m, he loomed up to run past her.

As is the case with many debutants, he was green and wanted to lay in behind the winner so I've got little doubt he will take natural improvement from the outing and may also benefit with a more experienced rider in the saddle.

Given the nature of two-year-old racing in SA, there are limited options for him going forward but if he does progress to the next 2YO race at Morphettville in late October, he will be hard to beat there.
