Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for September 27.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Scone, Bowen, Coleraine, Benalla, Sunshine Coast and Moonee Valley.
SCONE: RACE 6 @ 3:55 PM
PORTFOLIA (4) overcame a tardy start to lead before finding a couple better on debut recently over 1000m at Kembla. Meets a weaker line-up today and will no doubt take a lot from that experience. Sure to prove tough to catch, particularly with so many key rivals coming out. MIAMI BABY (10) showed pace and wasn't beaten far on debut at Hawkesbury last start. Won't meet with as much pressure up front this time. Comes in a lot closer with all the scratchings so he is right in the mix. DEEL ME A QUEEN (13) is a Dundeel filly on debut for Paul Messara. Won a recent trial in good fashion so although a longer trip will eventually be her thing this looks a winnable race. BROKERAGE (1) is racing well without winning at the provincials. Very fit and must be included. TRAPEZE LEGEND (5) has been kept fresh since a nice debut over 900m here in heavy ground eight weeks ago. Sure to have something to offer.
SELECTIONS: Portfolia to win.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Scone Computer Card.
BOWEN: RACE 2 @ 2:26 PM
WELL HELD (3) resumed at Mackay and was narrowly beaten from the front. He will be fitter and has more to give. The Stanley-Taylor linkage is lethal. HAND GRENADE (1) brings a string of placings with the latest at this level. Gets some gear tweaks and another chance. UNDER THE SHADOW (4) gave away a start first-up but hit the line okay. She will be sharper today and the 3kg claim brings her into it. SNEAKY FREDDY (2) blitzed the Maidens at Prairie at a non-TAB. This is a step up but he can get some of the money. DIAMOND CODE (7) will carry 53kg with the claim and second-up goes into the first-fours.
SELECTIONS: Backing Well Held.
COLERAINE: RACE 7 @ 4:25 PM
SPARE COIN (6) has been racing in tougher fields lately and looks to be superbly placed in this contest with only 55kg on his back. He is nearly 7 weeks between runs so should settle closer than normal to the pace with the aid of the pole position. Paul Gatt in the saddle is a plus and a win would be no surprise. STATION ONE (1) likes to race on the pace and that is an advantage around this circuit. He handles any track condition and his jockey Danica Munro has won 2 of her 4 starts when riding him. Each way. DARK HARMONY (7) does not win often and will be peaking third up. He is nicely placed in the weights and his stable is in good form at the moment. He is poised to put his best hoof forward. GLITTER 'N' GOLD (4) finished fifth fresh-up at Moonee Valley nearly 5 weeks ago and usually improves quickly with racing. She would prefer a firmer surface and can't be ruled out of winning this.
SELECTIONS: Spare Coin to win.
BENALLA: RACE 9 @ 5:25 PM
DUBENENKO (12) resumed off Stakes and Group 3 outings and was beaten a nose at Sale this grade/trip. McDougall stays aboard and she will have taken plenty of improvement. Rates best and fitter she just needs average luck in the run. ROADCONE (9) resumes and is also in a top metro barn. Won both starts last preparation heavily bet and is sure to have come on. He will run along from the inside gate and is a live chance. BOLTSAVER (11) was beaten a lip at Sandown-Hillside two back and is busting to win. The gate is awkward but he can't be ruled out. CHARTWELL HOUSE (1) is in the premier stable and it wouldn't surprise if he went better.
SELECTIONS: Dubenenko has the race form/fitness.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 2 @ 6:30 PM
Former NSW galloper BETTA BEING SINGLE (8) wasn't disgraced in the $1 million Golden Gift when last in work and has since been given time to furnish. Should find this assignment much easier and can return in winning order for the new stable. STARWARD (6) just missed the placings when facing the starter for the first time and will be better for that hit-out. In the mix. UNCLE IAN (19) next in line with Maloney in the saddle from the favourable draw.
SELECTIONS: Betta Being Single to shed the maiden tag.
MOONEE VALLEY: RACE 5 @ 8:15 PM
ENEEZA (1) looks very well treated at the set weights here fresh. Two starts ago she beat Lady Of Camelot in the G2 Percy Sykes two starts ago at Randwick. She brings the top class 2yo form and draws for every chance. TOBEORNOTTOBE (5) stuck on well considering she was up the inside at Flemington fresh which wasn't the place to be. She beat Ameena over this trip before a spell which reads well. ZEITUNG (7) has been running well against the Sydney fillies and we've seen that form hold up well in Melbourne so far. Must respect. BOLD BASTILLE (2) stuck on well at Flemington although 1200m remains a query. No knock on BELLATRIX STAR (3) who won the Flemington race, albeit aided by a perfect ride.
SELECTIONS: Eneeza to win.
