Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 09.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Randwick Kensington, Doomben, Sale, Mount Gambier and Bunbury.
RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 8 @ 5:30 PM
UNITED KINGDOM (13) wound up strongly but couldn't get the better of the in-form Rock Empire when second-up last start over 1600m at Warwick Farm. Returned his best figure last prep at the third run back. Beautifully placed out to this trip and he should justify the short quote and get the cash. It's a pretty even bunch after that. DORASKAYA (12) didn't cope with the 2140m journey at Warwick Farm recently, her only failure this campaign. Strong performer at provincial level and is worth a ticket at big odds back to a more suitable distance. CORMAC T (8) wasn't far away when resuming at Newcastle last start. Goes well second-up so worth considering. TYMPANIST (4) might need one more hit-out but his four wins from nine runs on this circuit is hard to ignore. GREEN BELT (3) was brave in defeat at Canterbury recently and should be peaking now after three runs back from a spell.
SELECTIONS: Keen on United Kingdom.

DOOMBEN: RACE 2 @ 3:28 PM
TUFF TU MUS (4) made an impression beaten 0.3L at the Sunshine Coast on debut. He followed that with a nose defeat at Eagle Farm racing forward. Draws ideally and the premier hoop (Orman) stays aboard. Fitter and should have them covered. BIG DEMEANOR (1) has been around the mark without winning. He races forward and Maloney stays aboard. In the gun stable and that always demands attention. VICTORY COMMAND (5) has had a 52-day freshen and has been kept up to the mark with a trial placing this track. Is back in grade and trip and would be a player at best. Likely to race well. MORE FOR READY (7) improved again beaten a nose at Eagle Farm surprising the market. That reads well but she will need a touch of luck from the awkward batter. FREE AS THE WIND (6) just missed heavily bet at Ipswich. Loses Orman but maps for a soft run and at a price will get every chance to go one better.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Tuff Tu Mus.
SALE: RACE 4 @ 2:45 PM
OXFORD BLUE (11) caught the eye on debut with a good finish from the tail of the field, getting within a long neck of Too Darn Discreet, who came out and won a G2 at Flemington on Saturday. Gets an extra 240m here which suits ideally and he looks a possible late-blooming Victoria Derby type. HOT MAJESTY (9) made good improvement at his second outing, running in a BM64 at Flemington when third to Swiftfalcon, who was very impressive winning at Randwick on Saturday. Rates highly. ECLIPSION (2) was beaten narrowly when well supported at Seymour and is in the mix. HAWKSURE (3) will be fitter and can improve.
SELECTIONS: Oxford Blue to win.
MT GAMBIER: RACE 3 @ 3:00 PM
MERCHANT BOSS (5) doesn't win out of turn but is a class above these on best form. Was only denied by a lip last start in town over the same trip. Draws well and only has to hold his form to take this out. PORTATION (3) hasn't offered a yelp in his last two starts in town. Strikes a much easier assignment this time and is a major player if he brings his A-game. Great chance to break a long run of outs. FIRST RETURN (7) has come back in good order and can be very competitive again. COME ALONG JEFFREY (2) next best.
SELECTIONS: Merchant Boss to win.
BUNBURY: RACE 5 @ 7:20 PM
RICHANCO (5) was very impressive in his maiden campaign. It took a Listed winner to beat him at his final run prior to the spell, and he looks to have returned in fine fettle judging by his recent trial. He has plenty of class and he should make light work of these if he can pick up where he left off. SOLAR SYSTEM (11) resumed on a strong note, missing out by just 0.4L as favourite at Belmont. He is a second-up winner in the past and he has the speed to offset a wide alley. Can put his best foot forward. TON OF GRUNT (6) progressed through the grades nicely last campaign and is worth keeping onside as he'll be flashing late. BLEECKER STREET (2) has trialled nicely since running here in July and is worth including.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Richanco.
