Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for December 11.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Wyong, Mornington, Ipswich, Strathalbyn and Launceston.
WYONG: RACE 3 @ 2:55 PM
MANNERHEIM (1) improved sharply last start when second-up from a spell, making late ground to finish fifth over the mile at Hawkesbury. Has won two races, both coming at this stage of the campaign. Steps up sharply in trip but he should cope. Sure to be right there at the business end. MONTGOMERY (4) has contested the same two races as Mannerheim this prep. Settled just ahead of that gelding at Hawkesbury last time but he went by and beat him home by just under a length. Is a winner here at this distance and will be hard to stop if he gets a soft run up front. THREW (7) scored a tough win over today's journey at Orange last start. Up in grade but should be competitive. The race probably ends there, with BROADFIELD (2) and HUNTER BRED (5) best of the others.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Mannerheim.

MORNINGTON: RACE 5 @ 6:00 PM
AZEEZLE (3) resumes having shown good promise in his debut campaign, taking on some smart types at open level before a spell, not far away. He looks very well placed in this grade, draws to land in a forward position and should take catching. MAXIMUM POWER (1) resumes. Three runs last time in were very good, winning two and just missing in the other. He should get a soft run just behind the leaders and will take beating. SANTASIA (6) was close up in a decent BM64 two back at Ballarat, not far away last time at Kyneton as well. She gets in with 53kg after the claim here and maps well. FLIP THE SWITCH (4) has placed in her past couple and won't need to improve much. ANTHOPHILA (5) is coming off a narrow maiden win at Geelong and could measure up.
SELECTIONS: Azeezle to win.
IPSWICH: RACE 1 @ 12:38 AM
SHE'S GOT LYRICS (7) only went down by a narrow margin over this track and trip at the latest effort and may have turned the corner now. Lang sticks in the irons following that placing and again gets the benefit of her 2kg claim. Will prove very hard to toss from the favourable draw. SOBUTE (2) should be near his peak now third-up from the break and must be respected from the Heathcote barn. Looms as the main danger. SILVIO DANTE (1) can run a race while fresh and FREYA'S MAGIC (11) is next in line in a race decimated by scratchings.
SELECTIONS: She's Got Lyrics to shed the maiden tag.
STRATHALBYN: RACE 2 @ 3:15 PM
COMMISSIONS (1) put the writing on the wall here last start when beaten a head after being sent forward. Will hunt across early from the draw under Pannell and should prove very tough to reel in. GLACIES HEART (10) was much better last start at Clare when closing off sharply into the frame. Mixes her form but a repeat effort will see her threaten. THE TANK (6) showed good tactical speed last start at Balaklava and gave roughie backers a great sight. Draws kinder this time and should look to roll forward again to give himself his best chance. THAVMA (5) has only been fair since returning in three runs but strips fitter now and should be hitting his straps. GINGERBREAD BOY (2) only warmed to his task very late in the piece when resuming at Clare. Keeping safe from the better draw.
SELECTIONS: Commissions to win.
LAUNCESTON: RACE 2 @ 6:42 PM
SILVER DAGGER (11) placed as the favourite at Hobart on debut and was heavily bet here first-up winning a Maiden easily. She will be better for that and has the inside barrier. She's promising and can take the next step. GEEGEES LEGACY (6) was only beaten 2.2L second-up in an Open 3 and is proven third-up. Needs a good ride from the 2kg claimer but he's up to this. UNCLE'S TIP (8) deserved her Maiden win here bet into a short quote. Maps for the run of the race and she will keep improving. Ditto ALPINE THUNDER (1) who brings a first-up Maiden win.
SELECTIONS: Backing Silver Dagger.
