Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 18.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meeting are today held at Albury,Tamworth, Mildura and Rockhampton.
ALBURY: RACE 7 @ 3:45 PM
BLAZING SWORD (5) was nudged out here and at Swan Hill before delivering a comfortable Maiden win here on the heavy. He's won a Bendigo trial since and maps for the run of the race. He rates to take the next step. FLUTTERBY (6) just missed here on the heavy and then delivered the Maiden at Wangaratta. Keeps improving and also has claims. GOOFINATOR (1) is third-up and up to this if on song. He wasn't far away at Goulburn last time and has plenty up his sleeve. Briefly freshened and Guymer stays aboard. THINK I'M IRISH (8) resumed further improved with a Seymour Maiden win and then likely had an excuse stepping up to 1500m at Bendigo. Fitter again and this suits a lot better. She can get some of the cash if the wide gate is managed.
SELECTIONS: Backing Blazing Sword.

TAMWORTH: RACE 5 @ 2:50 PM
VISUALISE (6) missed the placings for the first time this prep but was far from disgraced last start in a BM66 over 1600m here, tiring late to finish fourth. Down in grade and back to a preferred distance today. Should go to the front and dictate terms so he clearly looks the horse to beat. CONSIDERED (7) capped a bright start to her career by collecting her maiden win last time out over this trip at Dubbo. Nicely drawn and well in after the claim. Big chance to score again back on home soil. SIRIUS FLYER (4) has not raced since being eased out of a 1280m Class 2 at Muswellbrook seven weeks ago. Subsequently trialled to the Stewards' satisfaction and at her best is a definite contender. OCEANFRONT (1) is a market watch resuming with blinkers on for the first time. Pretty sure the winner comes from this quartet, with MAJOR MAKEOVER (9) the pick of the rest.
SELECTIONS: Visualise to return to the winner's list.
MILDURA: RACE 1 @ 1:00 PM
Maher-trained IL CIELO (2) has been saved for this from a winnable race at Cranbourne. He was quickly back on track at Ballarat and won't know himself back in country grade. AFFAIRE VUE (6) turned the form around beaten a whisker at Murray Bridge first up. Presents fitter and showed enough early doors to say she's a winning chance. JEWELS CAPTAIN (3) resumed in the same race beaten 2L. He has more to give and Pannell is a positive rider engagement. SHUJINKO (4) just missed at Warrnambool on debut and then looked a run short resuming at Bendigo, 5 days ago. Draws inside and Yendall has been with him all along. Obviously pleasing.
SELECTIONS: Il Cielo is well placed.
ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 2 @ 1:42 PM
RUM RUMBLE (7) is unlucky to still be a maiden hitting the top-four at his past five starts and strikes a very winnable contest here. Gets in well at the weights with the 3kg claim and should be going very close to shedding the maiden tag against this line-up. DAWN EMBERS (1) has been right there in all three runs this preparation including placing over this track and trip two back. Another to get some weight relief and looks a genuine top-three contender. PEAKING TOM (3) resumes here but has revved up for this with a recent trial victory and a strong showing while fresh would not surprise. JAY BEE ELL (2) best of the rest in a race with only a handful of chances.
SELECTIONS: Rum Rumble to break through.
