Richard Bensley does most of his riding around the South East New South Wales and Canberra area.

The highly regarded hoop is regularly near the top of the Canberra jockeys premiership and in 2011 took out the feature Black Opal Stakes aboard You’re Canny.

Bensley had his best day in the saddle during the 2015 Scone Carnival when winning the Scone Guineas aboard Loved Up and the Luskin Star Stakes aboard Artlee.
