Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 3.
Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Moonee Valley, Moruya, Dubbo, Warrnambool, Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton and Launceston.
MOONEE VALLEY: RACE 3 @ 7:15 PM
Over the 3000m here and HIGHLAND BLING (1) goes on top having won well at Flemington over 2550m second up at just his 11th career start. The pace was strong there with the field strung out and the former import's stamina came to the fore to win well. He'll eat up the trip and could just be too good again. KARBURAN (2) was well fancied in the Highland Bling race and stuck on very well when sitting close to the speed, beaten 4.5 lengths. Not sure he has the upside of that horse but he'll be on speed and the scenario could favour him far better. JENNY THE BEAVER (8) has been thereabouts her past two and will be grinding away late. THURMOND (6) had his colours lowered last time but had been flying prior and can bounce back.
SELECTIONS: Highland Bling to win.

MORUYA: RACE 1 @ 1:00 PM
ZIGGY ROSE (10) was hard to miss when resuming from a brief spell last start over 1300m at Goulburn, winding up late only to just miss out in an impressive performance. Nicely placed out to this trip on a quick back-up. Would prefer a bit more pace in the race but she shouldn't be too far back from the decent draw and looks the testing material. HELIGAN (11) stepped out beyond 1400m for the first time last start and did a fair job in finishing sixth at Wagga Riverside. Should improve off that run and in a plain affair he gets his chance. PITCH 'N' TOSS (8) was beaten a whisker over the mile at Kembla two back then failed to measure up in town last time. Nicely placed in this company and she looks one of the better hopes. LANDMARK LADY (6) is struggling to make her mark. Best recent effort was a fourth here at this trip three back. In the mix on that performance. ELITE DELIGHT (5) is new to this trip but is by Adelaide so she should run it out.
SELECTIONS: Ziggy Rose to win.
DUBBO: RACE 5 @ 3:40 PM
JASON DARREN (2) raced on speed and fought on bravely for second over this trip at Scone, backing up a previous placing. Consistent and finds the right race to break through. PRINCE OF PROPHETS (4) finished powerfully to score over 1300m at Narromine second-up. Improving type who looks a major threat to go back-to-back. DOWN THE KOOKA (16) improved last start, finishing a close fourth at Muswellbrook. Gets a key booking in Bullock from a favourable draw. Capable. THE DRAFTER (5) closed off well for third at Narromine over this trip. Gets in well again with the claim and is race fit. Can give this a shake. BLACKFISH (7) delivered a tough maiden win two starts ago and still has upside. Worth keeping safe.
SELECTIONS: Jason Darren to win.
WARRNAMBOOL: RACE 3 @ 3:00 PM
LISA LASS (8) is locally trained and has placed 2/3 runs so far - both over this journey. Stepped back to 1200m here latest and ran fourth but back out in trip is worth another chance. DANZSIN (11) ran a nice race on debut then was tested in tougher last time and safely held off a wide gate. Back in class and a better draw should see a better result this time. SO LONG AGO (15) has been on speed and thereabouts at the last couple. Yet to hit the frame in 10 starts so far but lesser company here and can run a race at odds. HARMONY (12) is a three-year-old filly out of Group 1 winning dam Small Minds. Coming along well at the trials with a minor placing at her most recent at Colac. Has the pedigree so keep a close eye on any market push.
SELECTIONS: Lisa Lass can atone.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 2 @ 6:25 PM
HEREDITARY (1) got the job done over this track and trip last time out and winning rider Dolan stays on board. Should be able to sit up on speed from gate two and looks the one they all have to run down. The well-related LOYALTY COUNTS (5) (half to G3 winner and G1 placed Arabian Summer) has a handy record over this course and distance with two wins and a second from five attempts and will be ready to peak now third-up from the spell. Ready to show what he can do. The consistent PRADO (4) has hit the top-four in eight of his past nine starts and is usually thereabouts. Don't discount lightly. GRIPPING (3) strips fitter third-up from the break and gets some weight relief with the 2kg claim. In the mix. HARLEY CHARLIE (7) rounds out the selections.
SELECTIONS: Hereditary to win again.
ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 4 @ 2:34 PM
PRIDE OF VENUS (8) delivered the hat-trick at Townsville for the premier stable, spiking her figures. She will use the inside gate and tumbles in weight. That brings her right into it over the longer sprint. ZHUANG SHI (3) raced a short-priced favourite here last time beaten 1.6L over a mile at this level. He's been kept on the fresh side and deserves another chance. PREPOTENT (4) won that contest tough on the line. Carries 2kg more but he's capable of repeating the dose. CAPO STRADA (1) led and just missed in that race and continues to race well. He's been finding it hard to win but always puts in.
SELECTIONS: Sticking with Pride Of Venus.
LAUNCESTON: RACE 4 @ 7:35 PM
CRACK THE SHUTTERS (2) resumes and looks forward enough following a convincing Launceston trial win. Comes off a decent effort in Listed grade and count on Darmanin to manage the awkward gate. Rates strongly and is the one to beat. PRINCE OF KHATUN (5) was an effortless Maiden winner first-up on the synthetic. Is lightly raced and has plenty of scope for improvement. This is tougher but he is capable of another big run. ANTHEIA (7) will strip fitter for this after running below expectations first-up at Hobart. Keeps the handy 2kg claim and she's a second-up winner with more to give. SIR JAG (13) resumes and hasn't been far away including a placed effort here last time over 1400m at this track. Backmarker who gets home hard.
SELECTIONS: Backing Crack The Shutters.
