Best bets for the feature nine-race card at Morphettville Parks on Saturday.
Racing is back on the Parks track on Saturday and, with some forecast rain overnight on Friday, I'm expecting the track to race in the soft range again.
I think we can get off to a winning start in the opener and I'm keen to be with Artistic Angel, who has already been well backed in early betting to the point she is the $2.80 favourite.
She is a filly that showed nice ability in her two-year-old season, running second in the SA Magic Millions Classic (1200m) and racing well in Stakes grade behind the smart Blue Hotel.
Her recent trial at Murray Bridge, in which she raced on the speed and responded to riding to win her heat in quick time, suggests she has come back well as a spring three-year-old.
It looks a tricky map for her as she's drawn wide on the turning Parks track but she's got plenty of early toe and, with only 54kg on her back, I'm backing Teagan Voorham to let her use that early speed and roll forward.
I think she's good enough to absorb a bit of pressure and still win. She's getting into rock bottom odds now but I'm still keen to play at around the $3.
In the staying event of the day (R4), I'm buttering up one more time for High Society Girl on an each-way basis. The $10 on offer looks appealing.
I'm happy to forgive her last-start failure on the bottomless Heavy 10 track at Morphettville and all of her prior form in similar races is quite consistent. The likelihood of a track in the mid soft range looks much more suitable.
She's drawn low and will get a cosy run in behind the speed. She's only got a short sprint but Jess Tzaferis knows her well and can get the best out of her again with only 54kg on her back. I'm confident she can at least run a place and, if things go to plan, she can win.
