Racecourse : Balaklava (Australia)

Balaklava Racing Club was founded in 1903 and  has a circumference of approximately 2053m and boasts the longest home straight in South Australia at 453 metres, a feature that gives all horses their chance to run on from off the pace. Being one of the premier country racing venues in South Australia, Balaklava Racing Club conducts 13 races each year at this venue and with the highlight being the Balaklava Cup meeting in September that attracts crowds of more than 12,000.
The large oval design of Balaklava racecourse provides for races over a range of distances from 1000m to 2400m with a long 1050m starting chute that feeds into a sweeping cambered home turn. There is also a starting chute for races over 1600m that joins the back straight.
