Gunnedah’s Riverside racecourse is located on the banks of the Namoi River in northwest NSW and is the home of the Gunnedah Jockey Club. Gunnedah Jockey Club, founded in 1867, hosts 15 meetings annually and has been racing on the Riverside course since 1946 after moving rrom the old Showground racecourse. Gunnedah lies between Tamworth and Coonabarabran at the junction of the Namoi and Mooki Rivers and is 440km northwest of Sydney.

Gunnedah racecourse is a flat and spacious layout of 1850 metres circumference with a home straight of 400 metres. The track is square in design with four well cambered right angled turns. The highlight of the racing year at Gunnedah is the Gunnedah Gold Cup meeting in May. The Somerton Cup, Boggabri Cup, Curlewis Cup and Manila Cup are other feature events conducted by the Gunnedah Jockey Club.
