Kalgoorlie racecourse is located in the Western Australia goldfields city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, 590km west of Perth.

Despite its outback location bordering on the edge of the Nullarbor Kalgoorlie racecourse supports a thriving local racing industry.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder Race Club conducting over 20 race meetings annually and the Coolgardie Racing Club also holds some meetings at the course. The Kalgoorlie season commences in April and goes through to November.

Racing began in Kalgoorlie in 1896 and for many years racing was conducted on a number of tracks in the goldfields region including Boulder and Coolgardie.

Kalgoorlie racecourse is rectangular in design with four distinct left handed turns and short side straights.

The Kalgoorlie course has a circumference of 1934m with a home straight of 320m.

Starting chutes provide for races over 1400m, 1800m and the 2300m from the top of the straight.

The highlight of the racing year in Kalgoorlie is the Kalgoorlie Cup and the Hannan’s Handicap.

Other feature races during the September Round include the Boulder Cup and Coolgardie Cup.

The main races were run in October in 2018. The Listed Kalgoorlie Cup is over 2300m worth $130,000 while the Listed Hannan’s Hcp over 1400m is worth $120,000.
