The Toodyay racecourse was founded in 1865 and is located in the Avon Valley 90 kilometres northeast of Perth. Toodyay Race Club now races only once a year when it stages the Toodyay Picnic Race Day in September. The Toodyay Picnic Race Day is Western Australia’s favourite picnic race day and is the equivalent of a major provincial racing event.
Toodyay racecourse is one of the Avon Valley’s oldest and most unique landmarks. The Toodyay course is a tight turning track of 1650 meters circumference with a short straight of just over 200 metres. Races are run over 1100m,1350m and 1850m with short runs from all starting points.
