Zou Sensation will chase his biggest win when he lines up in The Supernova at Pakenham.
Mr consistency Zou Sensation will notch two important milestones if successful in The Supernova at Pakenham.
If successful in the second of Southside Racing's slot races on Saturday, it will see Zou Sensation top the $1 million in prize money from his nine wins from 31 starts.
But a win on Saturday will also mean Zou Sensation has netted $1 million in prize money for the preparation which commenced back in May and has seen the Leon and Troy Corstens and Will Larkin-trained galloper collect four wins and two minor placings from his nine starts.
Zou Sensation went over the $500,000 in prize money for the campaign when a last start third behind Jigsaw and Arkansaw Kid in The Meteorite (1200m) at Cranbourne on November 22, the first of the slot races run by Southside Racing.
"He came out of that last run really well," Larkin said.
"The drop back to 1200 metres last start wasn't ideal and they just got away from him in the early stages, but stepping up to the 1400 metres is going to suit and I'm sure he'll be close to the speed and hopefully hard to run down.
"Going from the winter, straight into the spring, he has been very good.
"He's won well over $500,000 this preparation, which is not easy to do, but it shows the versatility that he has and whatever race you put him in, he always gives his best, whether it's winning or in the placings, he's never that far away."
Saturday's race has pulled together a first-class field.
Group 1 winners Here To Shock and Pinstriped head the field along with multiple Group 1 placegetter and Group 2 winner Private Eye.
First and second from last year's Supernova, the Ben, Will and J D Hayes-trained Here To Shock and Arkansaw Kid, will be out to repeat their performances.
Larkin concedes Saturday's race will be a tougher contest that what Zou Sensation has been racing against, but says the gelding is up for the challenge.
"When you're racing in races for this type of prize money, you're going to have to expect a decent field," Larkin said.
"He's not at the top end of the market, but we've got a horse that tries his heart out every time he goes to the races, so that's all you can ask for."
Zou Sensation is a $12 chance in early markets that sees Private Eye, to be ridden by Craig Williams, the early $2.10 favourite.
