Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for November 06.
Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Flemington, Gosford, Ipswich, Gawler and Northam.
FLEMINGTON: RACE 7 @ 4:30 PM
Keen to stick with POINT BARROW (7) who was an outstanding winner when last seen at Caulfield, getting a mile back off a strong tempo but rattling home with enormous sectionals to get up as a well-backed favourite. Back to 1100m is the slight niggle but the wide draw down the straight looks perfect for her to wind up. AKAYSHA (9) continues to race well in handy races, taking on the older mares last time at Caulfield in the Alinghi Stakes and running well for a narrow fourth. Her fresh placing to My Gladiola (Coolmore 2nd to Tentyris) over this track and trip reads very well. SURF'S UP (10) was run down by Point Barrow last time and has to be a chance, while TRES MAGNIFIQUE (17) had no luck there and has had no luck since. Barrier one the niggle for her but the straight should suit.
SELECTIONS: Point Barrow to win
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Flemington Computer Card.
GOSFORD: RACE 8 @ 5:30 PM
CREPE MYRTLE (3) classy mare who continued the good form at her first run back for the Pride yard when a tough on-pace second to Lyles over 1000m at Warwick Farm in BM72 grade. Regular rider hops back aboard and should finish over the top of these. GOLD CARD (1) showed a blistering turn of foot first-up when launching late for a narrow victory over 1000m at Taree. Clearly come back well and will be hard to hold out with Grima's 3kg claim. Value prospect. STILL ALICE (6) returns from a 42-day let-up and due for a change of luck. Down in the weights and maps to get every chance. BOLD DESIGN (8) bounced off his good first-up third, with a convincing victory over 1000m at Muswellbrook. Has further upside and deserves his chance here from the low draw. Keep safe.
SELECTIONS: Crepe Myrtle to add a splash of colour to the day.
IPSWICH: RACE 5 @ 3:22 PM
CAPTAIN FENKEL (1) was nudged out at Eagle Farm in stronger before the spell over 1800m and resumed there is a 70 over 1400m and needed the outing. Proven second-up and has the inside barrier and handy 3kg claim. The step up in trip suits, and he's well placed to win. BENFICA LASS (4) was well back on straightening at Toowoomba but finished off well over 1300m. The step up in distance should suit this time around and she can run into the finish. MADALSA (3) was quickly back on track last start, finishing a close third over 1625m at Toowoomba. Tumbles in weight this grade and that brings her right into it. REGGIE'S FOLLY (7) has been in the market at his last couple of starts but hasn't made an impression, last start running fourth at Gatton. Rates as a place chance.
SELECTIONS: Going with Captain Fenkel.
GAWLER: RACE 4 @ 3:05 PM
ANNANDA (5) stepped up to the middle distance and broke her maiden at Strathalbyn. Was heavily supported, and she can take the next step for the Stokes yard. FIORA BLUE (8) just missed in the same contest, also up in trip and hits this at peak. Can threaten again with average luck in the run. Tougher sorting the rest. TAKEN ON FAITH (9) was in the market against the above pair but settled back and didn't finish it off. Has a handy 3kg claim today and she would get some of the money purse if she put her best foot forward. DERBY DOWNS (2) should be better for his first run over a middle distance. Maps well and is locally trained.
SELECTIONS: Sticking with Annanda.
NORTHAM: RACE 2 @ 2:22 PM
THE CRIMSON PIRATE (1) showed plenty of talent in his debut campaign but got a long way off the leader/winner last start when the race favourite. He was solid to the line there and the rise in trip looks ideal. Love that the ear muffs come off and he looks the one to beat. AUSSIE REACTOR (2) has flown home in his past two outings, beaten 0.4L at this track and trip 11 days ago. The horse he finished behind there won at Ascot on Tuesday. Can sit much closer from the barrier this time around and put his best foot forward. ADMIRE ASTRA (7) just missed as favourite on debut before flying home over this track and trip last time out. Blinkers go on now as she comes here on the quick turnaround. Pike remains in the saddle however and she's expected to be in the finish again. BONDI LIFESAVER (3) comes through the same race as The Crimson Pirate and has claims. TANUNDA (5) creates interest on debut.
SELECTIONS: The Crimson Pirate looks the one to beat.
